DOTT question

This Day Of The Tentacle question is concerning the end game chapter of the game. I got the bowling ball, and Purple Tentacle has gone down to the lab to lay in wait for the trio. But, my question is, what basically happened to Nurse Edna & Weird Ed? Did they get captured like Green Tentacle? Are they tied up in the camera monitor room? They were nowhere to be found. Weird Ed is not in his room, and the door to the monitor room is locked. What's the untold story about this chapter of DOTT?
