Racing car in KQ2?!
Hallo,
twice, just before reaching Hagatha`s cave I was interrupted through a full-power-racing-car, driving several times in and out of the cave, crashing finally lautly behind the rocks. I have found
of course no smashed metal there.
What was it? Among the eggs I have found nothing of the art. Was it Hagathas modern broom-compensation?

That was the Batmobile. The music playing was the Batman theme from the old 60's show. The egg was in the original game too.

Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
Kids these days... You don't recognize the 80's Batman movie batmobile? Go soak your head! Actually you may not recognize the term "batmobile", since the newer movies intentionally avoid that term. You probably would call it a "retro tumbler".
You may be wondering something like "How the heck could they put something like that in there without getting sued all over the place?". I can only say that back then, big companies basically ignored computer games so a lot of in-jokes like these just flew right under the radar without anyone noticing at all. At best they'd skim through a list of game names, but no one ever bothered to actually sit down and play them, since they were "just toys". It's only now that video games are so very mainstream that people actually pay attention. This is also how a game like Earthbound snuck in so many Beetles references (and a Blues Brothers parody).
I think it's funny they actually worked that in there. It's only too bad they had to remove the Murry reference. I totally understand taking out the ripped sound clip, but it would still be funny to have him in there with a new clip, or even just the narrator saying something like "Murry's not talking much these days".

Actually, companies were perfectly happy to press charges over stuff that appeared in Space Quest, which was released around the same time.

Now that I wasn't aware of! Huh, that is surprising considering how many parodies they just ignored in so many other games at the time. Was that on the box for the game by any chance, or some magazine ad showing the parody? I'd understand that odd focus better if that was the case and they stumbled across one of those.

Space Quest was a lawsuit magnet.

Heh-heh-heh; if you ever need proof of that fact, this is only a slight exaggeration.MusicallyInspired wrote:Space Quest was a lawsuit magnet.

Dag yo! I gotta say that's pretty interesting, and funny. It beats those badly made "promotional videos" in the KQ collections (though I still watch those just for laughs now and again, I love how the amazing CD makes computer graphics light years ahead of consoles ). I should hunt down the full collection on eBay at some point.
Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
Now the question is how can I get in the bat cave without dying? That's the thing
Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
Maybe you're missing an item that will let you enter at a later time.
Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
What item am I missing?
Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
I think it's the death stone that the Count Caldaur holds in his castle.
Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
O.K. so I have to kill Batman in order to get in
Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
Actually, the item is the blue gem you get from the sea.DrJones wrote:I think it's the death stone that the Count Caldaur holds in his castle.
Re: Racing car in KQ2?!
o.k. THANKS another question I've posted a thread about how to catch the baby duck? How can I catch the baby duck with my net? And where can I stand in the water in order to catch him?
