Arm Wrestling Difficulty

#1 Post by MaclimesZero » Fri Oct 17, 2008 5:36 am

I apparently don't understand what I am supposed to be doing in this minigame. First: What is that red bar at the top? Is it power? fatigue? what? There's no indication that I can find anywhere.

Now. My Strength is 140. I have tried rapidly tapping the left arrow key over and over. I also tried just holding down the arrow. The result is the same: Both of our unlabeled red bars increase at the same mind-numbingly slow rate, until I get a message that I am too tired and get slammed (around 1/3 of the bar for both of us).

Occasionally, I hit the space bar. It has no effect at all. I've never gotten the bar above 1/3 or so.

I also tried the "hit enter whenever the hands shake" thing, but that had no effect at all.

WHAT THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? This is horribly frustrating. I've been doing this for hours, in every possible variation I can think of. I pretty much just ready to give up on this remake and skip to QFG3.

The bar at the top is pressure and it gets increased as the match goes on. The actions the player can do hardly ever have a direct effect, but by keeping the pressure up and holding back Issur's slams, you'll tire him out eventually. It's really an endurance match and stamina points are important as they drain continuously...make sure your stamina is high...eat a vigor pill or sleep an hour before taking Issur on. If your stamina gets too low, you'll lose. Once Issur wastes all his stamina, you'll slam his hand to the anvil no problem. Issur also gets a disadvantage if it's day 10.

Try holding down the enter key until Issur tires out. You may need to increase strength and vitality first (I find throwing rocks works very well for this).

If you lose, try to take a stamina pill on the same room and try again. I won at the third try without too much difficulty, and the only difference between winning at 1st or 3rd attempt is 1 dinar, anyways. :p

This is probably the worst minigame in the videogame history.

Arm wrestling is easy with the cheat code. But here's a question. How do I win the bellows? I can't figure out how to challenge him for the bellows. Bring back the type in interface! It'll make the game easier and less frustrating. I am on day 8, I've already talked to Keepin and Aziza, I have the fooler's earth, so again. How do I challenge Mr. Jerkwad "Issur" for the bellows? You guys made this game way too difficult! >:
