QFG Hex edit
I have hex edited stats in QFG 1 & 2 . But 3 is different , and I really need to hex edit it . RaKeesh keeps brandishing out his flaming sword and making my honest Fighter a Paladin , because his Honour points are too high . Doesn't Rakeesh want his sword at all ? What will he fight with after that ?
Anyway , I want my Fighter to remain Fighter . So I'd like to hex edit his honour points to something really low until he's safe from getting Paladinized . Only , QFG3 save files are different from the previous 2 games . Somebody help ?

Re: QFG Hex edit
You can choose how to import your character in QFG3. It asks to confirm the class (Fighter/Paladin/Wizard/Thief) so even if he becomes a Paladin at the end of QFG2, you can just click Fighter when importing your character and play as that.
Re: QFG Hex edit
Actually I am playing the third game . I just want to complete it as a Fighter since I have a Paladin save from game two . But thanks for answering anyway :-)

Well if it makes a difference, QFG4 will also allow you to change classes, but I don't know how to Hex Edit to lower Honor Points during the game.
Re: QFG Hex edit
POTENTIAL SPOILER
yes , yes I know . I just want a perfect Fighter ending . with the spear of death and all . A bit OCD here, when it comes to games .

Re: QFG Hex edit
The only way I found to lose honor as a fighter in QFG3, was to hang around in the Laibon's hut for a while. Each time he asks what you're doing there, you'll lose some honor points.
Re: QFG Hex edit
yeah . I'll do that . I'll have to go back quite a bit for it though . Anyway , thanks for answering , all :-)
Re: QFG Hex edit
You don't need to lower your honor to avoid becoming a paladin. I tried to become a Paladin and raised my honor to 300 (by giving tons of meat to certain person) and I failed. I think it has something to do with not knowing I had to click the mouth on the hero for him to speak, so if you avoid doing that in the Rakeesh scene, you will end playing a pure fighter.
Re: QFG Hex edit
I've heard that if you refuse the oath before travelling to the Simbani village, it automatically disqualifies you from becoming a Paladin, but I'm not sure.
Re: QFG Hex edit
DrJones ,
actually the rakeesh scene wasn't really in the player's control , I think . Maybe you missed out some honourable deed.
Zachski ,
but that just is a bad thing to do . its not like the paladin is the only character with honour . we just should have been given an option like in QFG2.

Re: QFG Hex edit
One way to decrease honor without getting bad feelings is to visit Harami in the bazaar at night. Go there, give him some food, then keep entering and leaving the screen. Each time you leave without giving him something or acknowledging his presence will decrease the honor stat, but it's less likely to leave the player with a bad feeling since you did help him the first time. You'll have to keep your honor below 100 before returning the spear/drum.

Re: QFG Hex edit
I didn't know that having lower honor could prevent the hero from becoming a Paladin... that should have been obvious to me, but I guess my habit of always maxing my stats got in the way of finding out
Anyways, one other way of not becoming a Paladin is not to take the oath, help Harami, help Yusufu when he's stuck in the hole, or defend Rakeesh when he's being chastised by Rajah. Though those are sorta unheroic and generally being a dick instead of a hero.
Till next time stay cool

But I still can't help wondering what Rakeesh will fight with if he gives his sword to the Hero . An ordinary sword ? or is he honourable enough that he can make any sword flame ?
Re: QFG Hex edit
In the original QFG2, you don't get the option, actually. It automatically makes you a paladin.Riniel wrote:DrJones ,

Granted, it's at the very end of the game where it has no impact other than making your default class a paladin.
In the remake, they made it an option, though, which I am grateful for.
