Heroine's Quest - released!

#1 Post by Fizzii » Sat Feb 23, 2013 12:00 pm

Crystal Shard is proud to announce the release of Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok, available for FREE download!

Image

Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok is an adventure / RPG hybrid. Like in many adventure games, you have a world to save, and must use your wit, guile and inventory to puzzle your way through. Like in many roleplaying games, you can customize your character with various classes and skills, and must train yourself in combat to stand a chance against the fierce monsters in your way.

The game is designed in the spirit and atmosphere of the classics, and strives to have the same high quality of art, music, and plot. With multiple character classes and several solutions to many puzzles, the game has excellent replayability.

Features:
- Explore the rich world of Norse mythology!
- Three character classes with separate side quests: use your strength as a warrior, the arcane arts as a sorceress, wit and guile as a rogue, or create a hybrid with skills from multiple classes.
- 32 distinct voice acted characters with animated portraits.
- Over 100 hand-painted backgrounds and 10,000 sprites in animations.
- Many monsters, including giants, trolls, and svartalfar.
- High replayability due to optional quests, alternative solutions, and the three different classes.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but so far it's been an amazing experience. One of the few AGS games that has a level of quality comparable to AGDInteractive's.

Thanks Xandarius!

Just updating here with some news - version 1.1 is released, and the soundtrack is now available as well: http://www.indiedb.com/games/heroines-quest/downloads

V1.1 includes a number of changes to gameplay/improvements (including keyboard configuration), and bug fixes to all known bugs in v1.0.

Off-Topic : Yes, I'm still alive, and I'm happy that talented people and fans have been innovative. It makes since... I don't know how long. I never forgot AGDI :)

Back to the topic : Heroine's Quest. 1 word = Masterful :D Why ? Because, from A to Z, the game is awesomely made ! I knew about Crystal Shard because of "A Tale of 2 Kingdoms" when I was searching for remakes of King Quest :D After it, I heard of Heroine's Quest. In all case, thanks to google and youtube, but first of all, thanks to Crystal Shard first :D I could tell what I like, but knowing myself, that would be giving clues and it would be careless of my part.

The choice of player gives challenge and alternatives on many situations of the plot, sometime, like in "A Tale of 2 Kingdoms", there may a completely different end, and it makes the player responsible of his/her doing, also making the game even more entertaining to play.

There are time when a story have 1 end. In that case, it's the "quality" of the ending that makes the difference, like in KQ6, and also depends of the doing of the player.

To AGDI and Crystal Shard : In all cases, you perfectly understood that a good story avoids to be linear, making it innovative and different, depending of the initiative of the player. A story, fictive, real or mix, makes the player living in the story you bring. You also consider the psychology of the characters, the day-to-day business. It's as if a game is "living on its own" :) The games you create put forward the responsibility of the player, who can feel guilty, free, happy, thoughtful, careless and so much more !

Glad to remind of AGDI and its "sister", Himalaya Studios, and glad to have discovered Crystal Shard.
