Freeing the axe?

I noticed that in the screen shots there was one where our hero is using the axe. How can I free the axe? So far no luck Nothing in my inventory has any affect on the axe. The message is that I can't remove the axe no matter how hard I try. There is no way to free the axe. Thanks Wolfgang, wonder why the screen shot shows our hero using the axe. Well I guess I will never know. Neat game, love the remake by Tierra. <p></p><i></i>

A screenshot showing Graham using the axe? The only screenshot near the woodcutter's cottage shows Graham in a special posture, but it's his dagger-throwing animation. Just a slight note here: You see the axe again in King's Quest 6. It's in the pawn shop and gives an interesting message if you look at it. <p></p><i></i>
