I think having his family kidnapped like that must have been unpleasant, but it's nothing compared to the torment that is Cedric <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"> .

Maybe Mordack wasn't the biggest villain in the game after all. It was Crispin for sending Cedric along with Graham in the first place.

Okay, enough Cedric-dissing for now.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/nashg ...

Oh good, a KQ2 and KQ5 tie-in. So, with all the talk about getting a perfect score on KQ2VGA+, I was curious about whether or not it was possible to finish KQ5 without a perfect score. I can't recall a single instance with an alternate solution that would give more points. Anyone?

I'd never actually thought about that. I guess KQ5 is really extremely linear. The only optional points I could think of are those associated with bagging Mannanan. I don't think you actually have to do that to win. Also, the needle and gold coin are interchangeable, but I'm not sure if one way of using them gives more points than the other.

Interesting idea. But I guess you're right. There is no way to beat it with less points.

<td nowrap style=filter:glow(color="mintcream", strength=#+15)> Lira Lindriel - - - - - - - Magic is real - unless defined integer!

Backyard Discussions ~x~ Lira's Duchy ~x~ My poems, stories and tags

So in other words, Sierra wanted you to get a perfect score in KQ5.
But, not KQ6. You had to work for it in that one.
The Knight

Yeah, really. I had the game for several years before I finally found the last few points (giving rose to Sing-Sing). And to this day, I never figured out how to finish the game the short way, sneaking into the castle dressed as a maid. I could never get into the basement.

Oh, I see. I assumed that you still had to talk to Jollo and do the other things in the basement. So, basically you're telling me that the short way would really have a crappy ending.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

I like that KQ6 has so many different endings depending on what you do in the game. The full-score long path ending is really much happier than even the best short path ending.

Well, there is a way to get into the basement: Just let yourself get caught by the guards once. The first time you get thrown into the dungeon, Jollo comes to get you out. Then you're in the basement. Then you can talk to Jollo and find the treasures - if you're quick.
But if you do the shortest way - with the least points possible, you never even talk to Jollo once. (Yes, that works, too!)
But the ending is kind of sad - with practically no one there for the wedding! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

<td nowrap style=filter:glow(color="mintcream", strength=#+15)> Lira Lindriel - - - - - - - Magic is real - unless defined integer!

Backyard Discussions ~x~ Lira's Duchy ~x~ My poems, stories and tags

You can't get out of jail if you get caught, if you take the short way. If you get caught the game ends.
The Knight

Are you absolutely sure about that, Knight? Yeah, IIRC Jollo will only come to rescue you if he knows that you are there. So getting caught won't work.

Jollo had to rescue me a couple of times before I managed to talk to him - so you only have to have talked to him in the Bookshop I think.

<td nowrap style=filter:glow(color="mintcream", strength=#+15)> Lira Lindriel - - - - - - - Magic is real - unless defined integer!

Backyard Discussions ~x~ Lira's Duchy ~x~ My poems, stories and tags

I've made friends with Jollo and take the short way. And when I get caught the wedding starts and gives a death message, with the option of restore or restart.
The Knight

Jollo rescuing you? that's news to me...
I finished the game both long & short way, and I don't recall that ever happening, I just talked to him in his room.

If you are friends with him, he will rescue you once of you get caught by the guard dogs. It's definitely true, it happened to me. Maybe it will only occur if you don't have the skeleton key?

I had the skeleton key and Jollo whould save me the first time(if I took the long way.). The second time, I had to use the key. And the third, you lose the game.
The Knight
