You can't fool me, Tierra!

#1 Post by Petter Holmberg » Fri Apr 04, 2003 7:49 pm

I'm progressing slowly but steadily through KQ2VGA, and I'm awed at its quality! The handling of the story is really clever. Nice touch showing Graham as a young boy! But you can't fool me, I'd recognize Adam Greene a mile away, even if he is wearing a black wig! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b">

Thanks, Petter! Glad you're liking the game.

But why'd you have to go and rat out Adam? He was placed under a secret identity protection program after saving the environment one too many times. To this point, he was living happily under his new guise, but now he may be in serious danger of GAYS (garbologists against youthful sanitation) tracking him down.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... >Anonymous Game Creator 2 at: 4/4/03 3:33:34 pm

If this is a joke, I don't get it. Who is Adam Greene?

The protagonist of the Eco Quest games, a 2-part sierra adventure-game edutainment series.

He was the main character from Ecoquest. He was a small lad who helps his father recycle and clean up the environment.

Adam's fate

#7 Post by Petter Holmberg » Sat Apr 05, 2003 3:51 am

Well, I suppose I should give him a break. It's not easy for these guys to make a living these days. I heard Larry Laffer got on the booze and is in rehab. And Laura Bow only gets minor npc parts in shoddy RPG:s...

But Hero is doing pretty good. I heard he settled down, tied the knot, and took some governmental job or something. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
~El Ravager~

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... hegreat>El Ravager the Great at: 4/10/03 10:52:29 pm

As both Eco Quest games were already VGA, they won't be remade.

Was the first one VGA? I remember it not looking anywhere near as good as most of Sierra's beautiful VGA games.
--------------------
Art: http://www.the-labyrinth.f2s.com
Science: http://www.zero-factorial.com

Yep.

#15 Post by adeyke » Sat Apr 19, 2003 6:39 am

It certainly was. Here's a screenshot of the first:

<img src="http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~deykea/tag ...

Personally, I didn't see anything wrong with the graphics.

The graphics were okay IMO. They were like any other Sierra game. I couldn't ever be bothered to finish the game, I got up to the part where you insert the trident into the 3 holes and you see the oracle thingy. Can you actually die in that game?

Nope.

#17 Post by adeyke » Sat Apr 19, 2003 6:45 pm

I don't think there's a single way to die there. There don't seem to be dead ends, either.

In EcoQuest, there is no way to die. The games are meant to be educational, and as such, they can't be too hard.

I'm currently stuck in EQ2. I know what I have to do, but the game won't let me...
Pidgeot
-----
Every error you find is the last one.

What part of the game are you in and just what is it that you are trying to do?

It's the beginning of the game, in the big tree. I'm trying to get past the hoatzin. Now, I know I must get some scented flowers in the tree, but the game just won't let me. I've pretty much tried clicking every single pixel of the flowers, but to no avail.
Pidgeot
-----
Every error you find is the last one.

I'm not sure what the problem could be there. I got the flowers just fine when I tried just now. You are trying to get the purple flowers at the bottom right of the screen left of the egg, right?

Bottom RIGHT? Well, that would explain it... I was told they were in the bottom left... Oh well. Thanks anyway.
Pidgeot
-----
Every error you find is the last one.

Adam Greene

#23 Post by josh » Mon Jun 02, 2003 11:24 pm

Yea, I noticed Adam during the First Test... I was waiting for Delphineus or the Oracle to show up.... that would have made a great easter egg... explaining the ripped off graphics, like an outraged crew of out of work game characters. Laura Bow, Delphineus, Arne Saknoosen and various other oldies could be shown picketing or complaining, or trashing a scene. I think it has possibilities. If I ever get around to making my own game, maybe i will try it.
