My opinion

#1 Post by Binser » Tue Apr 22, 2003 9:16 am

I just wanted to say that I give my fullest amount of respect possible to the devellopers of this game as well as to the voice actors and others who worked on the first game for bringing a console gamer into the world of adventure gaming. Because of you fine individuals, I now appreciate a genre that would otherwise have gone unnoticed by me, and for that I am greatful. You men and women have kept to what you love doing, and have given those who love adventure games a place where they can feel at home. Again, thank you for giving me this opportunity to learn about a genre I knew nothing about.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Hey, Binser, Thanks! It's really interesting to hear that this was your first taste of adventutre gaming and we're glad that you enjoyed playing it.

Just out of curiosity (and if you ever read this reply) how did you happen to stumble across the game/site?

Hey there Binser...glad to see you're enjoying Tierra's fine products! I'm nothing more than a fan, but I and almost all the members on this board know that Tierra is a group of hard working and dedicated people. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

I too am curious to know, how you happened to stumble upon this site? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

My Opinion

#4 Post by Binser » Thu Apr 24, 2003 8:33 am

I was at the Home of the Underdogs(www.theunderdogs.org), looking up adventure games. I found the first KQ game remake and gave it a shot. It was really good, and after beating it, I wanted more. When you release KQ2 remake, I was in heaven. The plot is better, the characters are more compelling, and its much less of a treaure hunt than the first one.
Since discovering this game, I have looked for more adventure games. I played Full Throttle and the Longest Journey, and am still on Syberia. I'm also pursuing a copy of Grim Fandango, and looking for a way to play other KQ games on my pc. If anyone knows a place to find them, and a way to play them on XP, please let me know!

I believe Windows XP has a compatibility feature to help cope with older games. Of course, this may, or may not help, but it helps with some games. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

The compatibility options thing does help for running Windows programs, but it's not there for DOS ones. For those, get VDMSound.

Often, I hear the most effective solution is just to custom build a really slow computer that just runs it perfectly! Now, would that be a good or bad idea? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

If you can still find the parts, I say go for it. But, you'll be hard pressed to find an old 486 CPU and motherboard and all compatable controllers, graphics, and sound cards. You can't just walk into CompUSA and pick one up anymore. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b">

"May the way of the hero
lead to the Triforce."
Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... athoth8 at: 4/24/03 1:54:11 pm

Yeah that is true anathoth8. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"> But I have a 333mhz computer that runs all the games fine. I rarely even get a bug in QFG4.
The Knight

HEck, the first time I played QFG4, I never encountered a bug. I don't think there are any experts on DOS-Box here. Did you try posting at their forum?

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashs ...
