Three bugs... one quite major

Well, I've got the second gem and am moving along nicely in the game, but there is one HUGE bug I am dealing with.

Getting the game to load.

The windows pop up start menu works only about 1 out of 5 or 6 times. I've had to restart my machine numerous times just to get the game to run. I'm not sure what it is, but most of the time when I click on on the button to load the game, it locks up. No sound effect, no 'thinking' on the hard drive, nothing. Notta.

I just cross my fingers and hope it loads.

Otherwise, when it does load the game runs just fine.

Oh, I did encounter a bit of a bug of sorts... Regarding the merchant in the town. When I put the money in the fountain I walked away 'around the corner' of the library if you will hoping that the merchant would walk up to the fountain. Then I thought, maybe if I go into the library and come back out he'll be at the fountain. No such luck... So I tried talking to him. No mention of the coins. In fact I was ever able to mention it to him. So instead of reloading I kind of forgot about it and hoped it would be resolved later... maybe I needed something else to make the plan work.

Well finally I did reload, put the coins in the fountain and immediately mentioned it to the merchant and everyone lived happily ever after. But I thought I'd mention it, if you don't talk to thwe merchant about the coins right away you're pretty much screwed. That may be intentional in the coding and not a bug at all.

Lastly, I encounted a bug once when walking out of the pond with the ugly duckling. Graham walked out of the water and did not move afterwards. I could not gett him to walk anywhere. Fortunately I clicked on the duck with the hand icon and he walked back into the water, after the events played out from that action I was again able to move around.

My hats off to Tierra for at the very least the effort involved in this game and at the most doing such a fantastic job at recreating a game that knocks the socks off the original.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... eHipCat at: 12/6/02 8:41:08 am

Try going into the game folder and running KQ2VGA.EXE ijstead of running the game from the Launcher menu. It may be that the menu is causing the crash.

Yeah, the merchant in town thing isn't a bug, as the coins will re-appear until you get away with the pumpkin baby in your possession.

The duck thing sounds like a similar bug that others have mentioned. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
