Trolls:

Original: The trolls in the forest were nasty, but not impossible and they usually were less tough than the cheetaur. The real deal is in the form of the troll in the passageway. (Fred) I'd rate the cave troll as the toughest monster in QFG1, since it's stats are as high as Toro's (if not slightly higher) and you can't use daggers or fireballs from a distance to weaken him before combat. And you can't escape.

Remake: The cave troll was still tough, but not tougher than Toro.

Toro the minotor:

Original: Has the capability to both dish it out and take it. Parries well, lots of HP and hits hard. High stats, but you can weaken him from a distance if you play your cards right.

Remake: Ditto. Hard fight.

Barnard the Bear (you forgot this one):

Original: You can weaken him from a distance at will and you don't really have to fight him (it's better if you don't), but if you try to do so, you'll find out that this thing is very close to Toro and the cave troll in terms of stats and difficulty. He attacks like a cheetaur (slashes with one or both paws) and can deal out a LOT of punishment very quickly while having plenty of HP to take off. And you can't escape once you start fighting.

Remake: I never fought him in the remake, but I guess he's less tough than he was in the original although still no joke.

Cheetaur:

Original: Lethal. This thing gets in your face and uses very strong slashes with one or both claws in VERY rapid succession, so even a strong hero gets worn down very quickly. The strongest non-boss monster by far. Fortunately you can escape and it doesn't chase you for long.

Remake: A bit less deadly, but still no joke.

Ogre:

Original: Still pretty tough, but you can weaken him from a distance and a hero with decent stats can take him out. And you can escape if things get out of hand.

Remake: Stab when he steps forward to club you. That's all. Quite easy. Not to mention the fact that you can also run past him into the cave if you don't feel like fighting him...something I could never manage in the original.

Goblins:

Original version: These guys could still kill a weak mage or thief early on. Afterwards, it's just a matter of a few quick stabs. Still, the goblins are potentially the hardest opposition in the game if you take a certain glitch into account where the amount of goblins you fight in the goblin hideout keeps increasing, even though only a maximum of 8 remains there to search. Fighting 20 or so goblins will exhaust even the toughest hero.

Remake: Even the weak mage or thief could take these on, and there were never more than 8 in the training zone, I believe. So easy as pie here.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashu ...

Toro in the remake, Fred in the original.

He is more than even he knows himself to be. I don't fight with Toro. I seek a magictrick solution there so I wouldn't know <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

I guess the Trolls are hard, but I hardly ever fight them either.

All other enemies are pretty simple. I the think the Ogre is way too simple.

He's not an enemy, and he won't kill, but Swordy-Lordy was the hardest, even after I used CPU-Killer to slow down my PC.
::Your opinion here::

Is that right about the swordmaster?

Once you can beat him, can you beat any other enemy in the game?

I remember my fighting stats were in the 80s or 90s when i finally beat him, so I must have been pretty badass

Not necessarily. My computer was so fast that even with maxed out stats, total health and stamina, and dropping as much weight as possible, I still couldn't beat him. I'd hold him back for a while, but he would eventually tear me down. I slowed my comp down to 20% of normal speed and fought him and he was still more of a challenge for me.
::Your opinion here::

If you build up your skills for a few days then he's so easy to defeat. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Rustedpipe.vega.net

Well maybe...but I'm always facing the Kobold way too soon somehow.

Rustedpipe.vega.net
