What he said.

I actually like SSS better than M-RPG. I'll have to wait and see what Partners in Time is like...what's your opinion Pidge?

I think it's a good game - I liked the twist about controlling the babies seperately (although I'm still wondering how it's possible that the babies start at Level 3, and Mario and Luigi start at level 1...)

The game is quite linear, though - there's not a lot of doubt as to where to go and what to do.

The game can be completed in 20-30 hours. I think Superstar Saga was somewhat longer, but it's been a long time since I've played it, so I might not be remembering that correctly.

They probably leveled up during birth lol!!

Except - it doesn't explain why the adult versions are at a LOWER starting level, which is kinda my whole point there :P

Wouldnt you level down if you sat around eating pizza and pasta after plumbing all day!  ;)

At any rate, level 1 is an arbitrary point, there is no sense in this game in naming the first level of the characters something other than 1.

this reminds me that I still have to beat SSS. Also I noticed Tales of Phantasia and Tales of LEgendia came out a while ago. I'll have to pick those up soon if Grandia III doesn't drop in price any time soon. I loved Grandia I but the spells needed work and Grandia II had proper working spells and such with the same great battle sstem only to have every character except Ryudo completly bland! ack oh well I just hope GIII pulls it all together, tell me what you think if you've played any of those.

Angelus, I've been meaning to get a DS Lite, but one of the main reasons would be to use it for ScummVM aswell as the selection of class games and even try that Brain game. I'm guessing you might experiement and try ScummVM on there, so if you do could you report back to see if it's possible? I mean if you weren't intending to, I wouldn't bother for my benefit as I was just wondering to see if it was possible to run and if it worked okay. I believe you need a flash cart/card (one of the two) but I don't want to buy one and see it doesn't work. And you're a risk taker, let's just hope your DS Lite doesn't follow the same path as my poor Gamecube did. :(

Haha lol

Yea from what I've read I need a PassMe to flash the DS firmware so it loads hombrew from the GBA port.

I'll be getting the required equipment in a few weeks time so I'll try out ScummVM.

Can't wait to try partners in time, but I think I better finish Superstar Saga first lol!

We went for the white Lite  :)

Partners in Time is great. Since you're controlling 4 characters, it's actually more hectic than Superstar Saga.

You have been warned...!

Does Partners in Time take advantage of the DS's power? Graphics and special effects wise like New Super Mario??

I haven't played it all the way through yet but the main important feature in M&L is the dual screen. The graphics are bright and sharp. Brain training is hilarious. With the microphone and all. Very cool.

I'm very happy with the DS so far.

Partners in Time is done well. As Spikey said, the colours are bright and sharp. Overall, it doesn't look enormously better than Superstar Saga, but you can see the subtleties that the DS can support.

The way the story unfurls is well done. It goes between the top and bottom screens very well. It's good being able to control the Babies on the Top Screen and the Adults on the bottom.

I'm happy I got a DS. I'm enjoying this, and I look forward to Final Fantasy III and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass!

Geeeeeez...

Aw, don't mention that!  I can't afford to think about that right now!  The last game...the last release and we've finally caught up to Japan...

<zombie-like draw towards games store>

No!  I must resist! :D

Anyways...as I recall, Angelus, you were a huge PSP supporter not to long ago.  Have you jumped ship completely or are you just straddling the fence now?

Hey I can enjoy both right  ;)

Btw is Partners in Time a direct sequel to M&L or is it just in the same series kinda thing??

Anyway, I still use my PSP more than the DS, mainly though cos I can't get Debs off Nintendogs lol!

Just got LocoRoco though for PSP and that is amazing!

It's not a direct sequel, but the style of gameplay is the same. You don't need to play one before the other, if that's what you're referring to.

It's actually a sequel to Super Mario World II: Yoshi's Island.  ;)

Darn you Europeans and your black DS lites! This is the first time that I've ever seriously considered importing any gaming hardware/software... Of course, none of this really makes any difference until I can afford that anyway, but someday..... Europe will be one black DS lite lighter... Mwahaha.

By the way, how easy is it to come by black (or any color) DS lites there anyway? Awhile back, the headlines on IGN DS were that a shipment of black DS lites were stolen... does that make them herder to find?

I didn't pre-order. The release day I went to the specialist and he had three Black Lites left.
