Ya, the ESA are cracking down on all abandonwares sites that has Sierra games for download.

I wonder how many games will be in this set...I'd imagine practically everyone they made?

Our inside contact at Vivendi has confirmed the re-release will be happening. He mentioned that the games will be modified from their original version, though he wasn't informed as to what the exact modifications will be. He assumes they are making them run on today's computers.

This is legit. Everyone, run out and buy some adventures!

I hope they can still play on Win 98  :cry

I personally find that very hard to believe at this point.

Save some for us... But you live in the UK and it only ships to the US. I guess you won't be buying them all. Yay.  :p

I've never let a little thing like that stop me before.

I hope they get rid also of copy protection puzzles and all that, if they did I would go swimming to the US and buy them all.

OR include the copy right protecton in a pdf file on one of the discs which would be a great idea.

As much as I love the old games, I don't think I can justify buying new collections when the ones I have still work just fine.  That is, unless someone wants to buy old versions...

...anyone?  Come on, I even improved the KQ Collection CD2!  Anybody?

:D

The real question that comes to my mind is will vivendi include girl in the tower sound track at the end of kq6 in this modified verision of the collection? The reason why I am asking is because Sierra forgot to add that track into kqc2 version of kq6 when they released it.

Hence my statement about improving my second CD; I reburned the data of the second CD along with a converted MP3 audio track of Girl in the Tower, resulting in perfectly functioning end credits.

I know that I did exactly the same thing using Nero burner. Will vivendi add it in into the new kqc?

I would guess at no. But thats just a guess. Vivendi probably don't even know that GITT was supposed to play at the end. It was Sierra employees that made it afterall.

But you never know.

hmmm

According to Brandon at sierra gamers it is a third party that have been contracted to make the games run on todays computers

http://www.sierragamers.com/bbs/BBSTopi ... t/8575/p/1

This third party isn't anyone we know is it???

We weren't informed of who this third party is who's making modifications to what I presume is the engine.

I knew about it but never posted it. My bad.

Heres my next question about these new collection series.

How will the documentation be stored like the stuff for sq1vga and kq3, kq4 and kq6?

My best guess that it would be stored in a pdf file.

I seriously need a time machine for traveling to the future.

I also think the docs are going to be in pdf's, I have the impression that Vivendi don't want to put too much money on these releases.

Actually, I am getting the impression they are really trying to make something cool this time.

The 'modifications' that were mentioned will probably be a Windows port of the engines or something. To me, that sounds like reason enough to buy a few copies of these. I don't think they'll 'just throw DosBox on it'.

I'm really excited about this! Can't wait for more info.

The possibility of versions actually modified to work on modern computers does sound exciting. If this really is what's happening, I hope they do this for the QFG Collection too.

I've always though they had special plans on QFG, if you look at their downloads section the QFG games are covered in TMs Rs & Cs while all the other sierra games don't carry those marks on those sections, also that there isent a collection release also makes me a bit more suspesious. I think there will be another QFG game because its something that would sell very well now-a-days, RPGs are very popular.

I do recall a time in 1998 when something along these lines were said about the release of Dragon Fire. "We are sad to announce that this is definetly the final chapter of our story and it isn't coming back" although I geuss the same was said about Final Fantasy.

And you think that will stop them making new QFG?
