Formerly Windows Longhorn....
Windows Vista launches late 2006.
The next version of Windows is finally (nearly) here.
Obviously people will flame it but you know and I know they will end up using it.

I'm pretty sure Vista has NO support for 16bit applications and below which means NO DOS SUPPORT!!
There may be some kind of emulation or compatabilty mode but I'd doubt it, best keep Win98/XP on a seperate partition.
Also Microsoft have announced that they will release Halo 2 on PC but Windows Vista is REQUIRED to play it...

As I understand it, the 64-bit versions of XP are like this, while the 32-bit versions still contain the 16-subsystem emulator. I imagine it'll be the same with Vista, ultimately ending with 16-bit being completely phased out by the time the version AFTER Vista is released (because I don't think they'll keep making 32-bit versions).Angelus3K wrote:I'm pretty sure Vista has NO support for 16bit applications and below which means NO DOS SUPPORT!!
Of course, they might have ported the 16-bit emulator to 64-bit systems by then, but I kinda doubt it.

That's so stupid. I hate Microsoft so much...If I wasn't so used to DOS and Windows and not liking the MAC interface, I'd be a MACer.
Right now I have 2 computers. A 2.5ghz with XP SP2 which I use most often for my music and newer games, and a 266 Celeron with Win98SE which I use for all my old games. When games are too fast on my 266 I use DosBox on my 2.5ghz. I also have an old 386 Toshiba Laptop with like a 40mb HD. I really want to get a hold of a 486 DX/4 100, though. I remember way back I used to have one. But I traded it for a little 486 DX/2 66 with PCI slots and then traded that for the 266 Celeron I had now. I was desperate to play newer action games at the time, though, and my computer was too slow . Oh well, I'm sure I'll find one sometime down the road. I still have the disks for Win 3.1 and Dos 6 for whenever I do.
