Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter died today from a sting-ray barb that pierced his chest, sources say he may have had an allergic reaction

The man had a truly refreshing view on life and his optimism was completely awesome. He was one of those people that always seemed invincible. The world will miss him.

That's sad, he was a great person. Not just a gimmick, it does feel weird that we won't see his crazy stunts. Although we were expecting it, I mean the guy dealt with the most poisenous snakes and dangerous crocodiles, to know that he finally dies is pretty unbelievable.

RIP Steve!

Yeah, he seemed like a great guy though he was practically suicidal (in what he did with dangerous animals on a regular basis).  Sadly, it was bound to happen.

Yes it was inevetable but the man cared about the animals a great deal and i guess trusted them a little too much he will be missed by many.

What happened was a total freak accident.  A lot of people have been jabbed by sting rays before.  It was just some really odd chance that jab happened to puncture his heart.  The guy was no joke, and despite what it may have looked liked (for purposes of good TV) he was an outstanding animal handler.  The guy has a daughter, you really think he would carelessly put his life on the line?  Nah.

Not carelessly.  But if you play with fire...

Regardless of our opinions about him and/or his show we've got to remember this thread is to honor him and not to argue about him.R.I.P. Steve Irwin we'll
never forget you.

It's kinda creepy that this happens just now. In Al Emmo, there's a shopkeeper who has a pet wombat and he mentions it used to be owned by a wildlife nurturer who ended up "looking for more dangerous animals to play with and never returned". Wookie wrote that, I believe, in reference to Steve Irwin.

It's really weird that a day or 2 before the game's released, Irwin actually dies. (although Koko mentions he was eaten by that which fascinated him most...so it's not COMPLETELY prophetic)

Still, spooky.

Considering how many close calls he had, I can't say I wasn't too surprised this happened. Still sad to hear he died, though.

And just yesterday, Peter Brock (Australian motorsport legend) died in a racing accident when the car he was racing went off the road and hit a tree at speed. Two Aussie icons dead within days of each other. :(

isn't that really unnecesary salt to the wounds? I don't think I'd want to watch it like that and just accept that he's gone on my own terms. They aren't just going to eliminate his show from the face of the earth.
