Thank you so much! The QFG series was the first games I ever played and this totally blows my mind! Any chance of making a 2d remake of QFG5? That interface really sucks...

Huh? I was under the impression this QfG game you are about to release was QfG1-5 packed into one?!?!

there's a fan-made patch out there.. i'm sure the link has been posted on this board several times.. between that and dos-box, you can run QfG4 pretty much flawlessly on a modern computer.. i just played it through myselfQuest For Glory Fan wrote:redo 4 without bugs?.

It's been so long since I've been on this site...I can hardly believe it's actually getting done haha, I believe there were some doubts back in the day

Will a new newsletter be sent out when the game is released? The last one seems as if it was quite some time ago, so I want to make sure if its worth subscribing.
Or can I sign up for notification somewhere else that I missed?

Re: Progress Update Thread (formerly known as quest for glory 2)
Yes, we do intend to send out a newsletter announcing the release of the game. We know we've been rather sparse with newsletters...most of the updates (with the exception of the beta phase recruitment stage) weren't considered big enough to spread to all people who've been on that list for the last 7 years.

Re: Progress Update Thread (formerly known as quest for glory 2)
What does the newsletter cover that the designer journals don't, and vice versa?
Re: Progress Update Thread (formerly known as quest for glory 2)
Newsletters used to be a bit like a 4 to 5-page paper about Tierra news and announcements. Not just game announcements, but a lot more. (one of the latter ones had a small part about me earning the status of moderator) Their use kinda declined, but they were a lot broader than journal updates...they were like a collection of journal updates about different subjects. And they were a way to let subscribers who no longer checked the board know a game was finished and ready to be downloaded.

I definitely think the newsletter should play up the new game site for QFG2VGA.Erpy wrote:Newsletters used to be a bit like a 4 to 5-page paper about Tierra news and announcements. Thanks Erpy and AGC2. (Odd that I never clicked on that Newsletter link before.)
Re: Progress Update Thread (formerly known as quest for glory 2)
I wish they had date stamps.
Heh, I remember signing up for the newsletter a year or two ago, and thought maybe I didn't sign up correctly or something, but I guess that solves the mystery of why the newsletters never showed up in my inbox. I was figuring they were just little messages sent out whenever the Designer Journals were updated.

Re: Progress Update Thread (formerly known as quest for glory 2)
While I don't have the exact dates on hand, the newsletters were released:
Newsletter 1 - July 2001
Newsletter 2 - August 2001
Newsletter 3 - October 2001
Newsletter 4 - April 2002
Newsletter 5 - December 2002
Yeah, it's been quite a while since the last one, but I think quality over quality is definitely something to keep in mind here. I think that it's better to send out newsletters when there's a lot of big of things happening, rather than just to report that more progress is plodding along. After all, the only thing that's likely to accomplish is to remind several thousand people who forgot about us that we still exist, prompting them to pay a visit to the forum here, asking the dreaded "when's it going to be done?" question.
At least the next newsletter should more than make up for the hiatus.

I disagree. I really think that you should treat quality as more important than quality.Anonymous Game Creator 2 wrote:I think quality over quality is definitely something to keep in mind here.
In related news, when's [QfG2 VGA] going to be done?

It's done. It just has to be polished up and passed through the red tape!

Speaking of "red tape", any new news from Vivendi?

Actually, considering the size of this game, it's more a case of quantity over quantity.jpnuar1 wrote: I disagree. I really think that you should treat quality as more important than quality.
Well, the very fact that you had to type the question, should provide you with your answer.JonWW wrote:Speaking of "red tape", any new news from Vivendi?
Re: Progress Update Thread (formerly known as quest for glory 2)
Well any other much anticipated AGS adventure games near completion. I know Ben Jordan 7 Cardinal Sins is almost done too and even a release date has been fixed.
Re: Progress Update Thread (formerly known as quest for glory 2)
The Space Quest 2 remake is coming along very nicely; I saw some YouTube videos from MusicallyInspired and it seems like the creative assets are settling in and it seems like InfamousAdventures will be adding another free remake on their belt.
