I stopped going trick-or-treating when I was 17, but I still dress up every year! I'm going as Peg Bundy. The fact that my budget is restricted is only adding to the fun and challenge. I got 2 red wigs off ebay, and will go nuts with a soldering gun. What are your costume plans?

I have this great costume where I wear a supeman shirt and then a suit and tie over it. Then I unbutton the white shirt so that you can see the big S and put on some glasses and I'm Clark Kent in mid change.

My wife and I keep changing our minds about what we're going to wear. I think currently we're going to dress up like Film Noir characters. QfG2 got me in a mood for certain movies, so we watched the Maltese Falcon. So I'll probably be dressed like Mr Spade, and her like one of the gals.

Thepal, will you be going for a Bogart-esque Spade or something more in tune with the novel?

Most likely Bogart-esque.

That'd be awesome...one of my friends held a costume party one year where the rule was you had to go with someone as a famous (or infamous) pair-- whether it was a couple or friends. Beetlejuice and Lydia! The dress I made was sick and no one had seen that much Aquanet since 1988.

Well I've got an excuse for going trick or treating this year. Which makes me happy since I'm 24 and by the 21st will be 25. I've been at home last 2 Halloweens watching Freddy vs. Jason with my mom and brother and then all the Chucky movies last year. No candy! But this year I'm going with a couple of friends cause their son is having his 1st Halloween. As for my costume like I said my B-day is on the 21st so my sister doesn't like video games and doesn't trust me with fireworks so I asked her to get me a Halloween costume and she said she would get me one so I'll let y'all know what I'll be later this month and next month I'll tell y'all about the painful dental work from the candy rotting my mouth...

I'd still trick-or-treat if I was visiting family this year. In the burbs I did it every year. But in NYC, most adults don't unless they're accompanying their kids...during the day. If I knocked on someone's door wearing the Peg Bundy costume at night, I'd most likely get someone offering me a Roofie Colada instead of a Hershey bar!
Since it'll fall on a Saturday next year I'll probably go with my sister who still does it every year (she's 31 with no kids.
)

Halloween isn't really big here (Gold Coast, Australia). Usually there'll be maybe one kid coming to the door, often none. But my wife is American, so this year we're throwing a Halloween party. We're currently renting a place with a large dirty area under the house which we're thinking of making people go through to get to the party. We're planning on making it into a sort of haunted house area. Upstairs too of course, since that is where the party is, but downstairs will work better since none of the guests have ever been down there, there is no real floor (it's kinda a hard uneven rock surface), and it's kinda run-down.

Sounds like an awesome idea! If I had a condo/bigger apartment...I'd do a haunted house thingie. But I'm going to a Halloween party at my friend's house this year, they get to go all out with a mini haunted house and tons of decorations since they have a duplex to work with.
And I'll be bartending at it! Can't wait.

Last year I improvised a Witch Costume, I was going to go as Misfit this year (if any of you read comics, she's from Bird's of Prey) but wont have the money to get it together so I'm not sure what we'll do.

Lack of Money + eBay + Imagination = awesome costume!

Well, it's pretty obvious what half the world will be dressing up as at Halloween.
Why so serious?

I doubt many people will have my costume.
It's all about ripping loose and having fun!

Ugh yeah and half of them will be in the nurse's outfit too.
I already know two people who are planning that.

I'm lost. I'm clearly not in touch with the times...:P
What will half the world be going as...?

I think that the people in Mean Girls said it best when they said something like, "Halloween is the one night that you can got out dressed in nothing but lingerie and no one can call you a slut".
Seriously, when did Halloween turn into dress-like-a-skank night?

That would be The Joker from The Dark Knight.

Ah. Well...I doubt my costume's going to be highly replicated.
And Mrs. Bundy was hardly skanky, just undersexed and overhairsprayed.
The 80's style shirt I won off ebay for the costume? Is so HORRENDOUS that it's just plain awesome!

Will you also have a box of bonbons tucked under your arm as you go around town?

Well honestly I wouldn't mind doing that but around my neighborhood I'd get a beat down fast and plus my sister wouldn't buy me a french maid costume in fact any type of dress she would say no to but hey and anyways it would probably freak my friend and his wife out totally too!

Oh sorry, Yeah I know people who will go as normal nurses but I was referring to a scene in the Dark Knight that I know several people will be oh so originally dressing to suit.

Isn't that true of most stuff made in 80s style? Case in point, a tribute to MegaMan boxart mindcrimes of the eighties...
...so awful, it's awesome.

Haha that's a good idea! Though I'm unsure if "Bon Bons" are made anymore. I remember them being around when I was a kid and they were frigging tasty.
This thing is red and sequined and has only one shoulder. And, I already have the spandex, horrendous plastic jewelry, and last night I finished working on the wig. It's just so god-awful that's it's awesome!

Hey you know, it just seems like it'd be the final touch in dressing up as Peg Bundy.
