Re: Prepare...
Maybe it's King's Quest 3, Part Deux.
Kinda like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEc-9hIdK0E
I'm seriously running out of ideas.
Maybe we'll get another hint?

Re: Prepare...
I'm happy, because the game has never been this closer to release than today! Well, tomorrow might be a bit closer, but we got to live the present.

Re: Prepare...
I don't know if I can give any more hints without giving it away...
Re: Prepare...
Here's a round-up of all the hints I've seen. Helps to have everything in one place.
It is an adventure game. The game...
- is "a good one. In the very classiest sense."
This tells me it is not going to be a spoof or comedy of some kind. Perhaps something more along the lines of King's Quest.
- is "related to an as yet unresolved, unfinished, well-known and engaging storyline. In fact, in a way, it could be seen as a conclusion to said storyline, given the correct circumstances in the game (or a stalemate to it otherwise). But the main focus of the game isn't about it directly."
- has a title that "starts with a "K" and ends with an "X" (which is not a roman numeral)."
- "...has nothing to do with Infamous Adventures."
- as suggested by a couple people earlier, might be a KQ2 SCI remake (see link below). I don't remember hearing a yes or a no about this suggestion:
http://www.agdiforums.com/forum/viewtop ... =5&t=11140
am I missing anything? this is hard. My guess is it's an SCI game. Can't wait to see.

Re: Prepare...
No, I doubt it's KQ2 SCI, since MI already had announced he was working on it, and this game seems to be a very well kept secret. It's gotta be something else....
OK, I have a straight question, which of course, you don't have to answer but it would be nice :
How "close" is your mystery game from being released? At what stage are you? Alpha? Beta?

Re: Prepare...
it also has nothing to do with the Space Quest image Blackthorne posted earlier as, persumably, a red herring.

Re: Prepare...
Beta testing is very close to being finished. The bulk of beta testing is complete, anyway. It's just waiting to get some other things out of the way before it's finally released.
Here's another hint: This game was actually announced a certain amount of time ago (not by me, and not by AGDI just in case people are thinking in that direction). People seem to have forgotten about it, though.

Lol, don't you dare say anything until we've guessed it.
EDIT: in trying to use google for clues, I stumbled on this page:
"We're sorry...
... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
See Google Help for more information."
iow, don't use too many regular expressions too many times in your search queries, or Google will accuse you of being a bot!

Re: Prepare...
It starts with K and ends with an x ? So here is my crazy guess.
Katrina's quest for sex !!!
Katrina's quest for sex !!!
Re: Prepare...
MI said it is related to a well-known storyline that remains unfinished and unresolved. It sounded like he sees this game as a way to conclude that storyline which never got complete resolution. He also never said that this storyline was originally from an existing game series. I'm trying to think of words ending with X.
Maybe it's related to the Neverending Story? The main character's name in the book is Bastian Bux. Also, the horse's name is Artax (pronounced like "Artex" in the movie). Maybe it's inspired by this 2002 game? The Neverending Story: Auryn Quest: http://www.aurynquest.com, trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLyzfpZUB5E - I'm kind of stretching here.
Or maybe it's related to the Matrix movies.
I like the DOSBox suggestion that someone else gave. It was something that had come to my mind earlier when I thought maybe he was making a kind of self-aware, semi-autobiographical game, or a game that is about making games or the people who play them.
Then again, maybe it really is related to an existing game series. There's always Sam and Max. Or maybe the word Tex (of Tex Murphy fame) is in the title.
The pandora's box suggestion is also a good one. Did MI ever have any involvement in this KQ4 VGA project? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxFMr4Izw-0
Maybe plans for a proper KQ4 remake were scrapped, but art and other work was put towards a new game inspired by the KQ4 storyline? Seem unlikely, though.
Crucifix is a word I could imagine in the title of an Indiana Jones or even Gabriel Knight game. But I think both those series would be kind of dangerous territory legal-wise... given that Indiana Jones is still a currently marketed franchise, and also Jane Jensen still appears to be active in game design, and I don't think she'd be pleased with someone using her characters, which could make for an uncomfortable situation, even if she's not the one who owns the rights.
Finally, I come back to my earlier suggestion of vortex. Having a vortex in a game would open up all kinds of possibilities for time and dimension travel. And, as I mentioned earlier, the word "vortex" is used three times on the "About Us" page for Infamous Adventures, the team with which MI is associated for other projects, but who apparently have no official involvement with this mystery project.

Re: Prepare...
The Mummy that guards Pandora's Box has an unresolved story line.
Re: Prepare...
Here's an idea from someone named Dalekman about who the KQ4 Mummy could be... this 2007 thread is from a forum about MMGames, the people who announced, but apparently never finished, a "KQ4 Plus" remake-style project:
http://www.mmgames.org/KQ4/SMF/index.ph ... 969#msg969
Quite honestly, I feel like I'm grasping at straws. But whatever.
