New Stuff! Happy Holidays from the AGDI & Himalaya Family
It's never too late to revisit a classic. And revisiting classics is what we do around here right?
Let's start 2010 with a look back at "Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine" and two BRAND NEW behind-the-scenes features I've brought back with me in the time machine.
It's time to start visiting the forums again if you've been away. Something special is brewing in the cauldron at AGDI and I'm getting all mushy inside just thinking about it!
Happy Holidays from the AGDI and Himalaya Family. Keep the spirit of the adventure game alive!
Are you ready? Let's take a ride in the time machine!

Can someone please tell me what is brewing at AGDI? What do you mean? Is there a new game?

Maybe is a new feature for QFGII or a new Himalaya game.

Ooooo! I wonder what it is!
I doubt it's the new game from Himalaya since that's already been announced. Plus he said "something is brewing in the cauldron at AGDI" not Himalaya.

Re: New Stuff! Happy Holidays from the AGDI & Himalaya Family
Yeah, for a second I thought it meant "something brewing" at AGDI generally (i.e., the ongoing online community forum participation, the site constantly attracting new visitors downloading the games for the first time, the spirit of adventure gaming here that hopefully helps inspire new original adventures, both amateur and professional), but the call to return to the forums again makes me kind of hopeful that something forthcoming is going to jolt things up a bit here. A site update? But the site is already snazzy, and the luster of its newness still hasn't worn off. Maybe a forum design update? But this one seems to work well. AGDI is going to host the AGD Awards this year and put in place some kind of third-party vote verification so we all know how many people voted for each nominee? Ahem, I'm not going to revist that topic again after that previous episode. Perhaps some kind of update or add-on pack for one of their earlier releases? Maybe an announcement of a merger or partnership with another development team?

Maybe it could be just some more behind the scenes features on their already-released remakes. Maybe not. Who knows?

Indeed.MusicallyInspired wrote:Who knows?
Whatever it is, I can't wait!

A remake of black cauldron may be.............. lol
Re: New Stuff! Happy Holidays from the AGDI & Himalaya Family
Maybe it's a remake of Johnny Castaway.
Re: New Stuff! Happy Holidays from the AGDI & Himalaya Family
Nah, Johnny Castaway is already in VGA.DrJones wrote:Maybe it's a remake of Johnny Castaway.
My guess is, after 9-10 years in developing, they're finally releasing Royal Quest!

No it isn't. In fact it's dithered in 16-colors and in 640x480 (well, technically that's the simplest version of Super VGA, but it's definitely not 256 colours).

This immediately sprung to my mind as well.Tehseen wrote:A remake of black cauldron may be.............. lol
but AGDI will most likely not be challenging Disney copyrights.

It wouldn't have to be the Disney version. The Black Cauldron was a book series wasn't it? Before Disney made it a cartoon.

Really? My memory is starting to fail then.MusicallyInspired wrote:No it isn't. In fact it's dithered in 16-colors and in 640x480 (well, technically that's the simplest version of Super VGA, but it's definitely not 256 colours).
Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's not Johnny Castaway, and about Black Cauldron, I don't know, I never found that game very interesting, so I'm still betting on Royal Quest (not really.)

It was the second book in the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander; the animated version was a fusion of it and the first book (The Book of Three) and basically combined the Horned King with his master, Arawn Death-Lord.MusicallyInspired wrote:It wouldn't have to be the Disney version. great response!! That's a title I haven't heard about in a LONG time.DrJones wrote:Maybe it's a remake of Johnny Castaway.

LOL! That was really funny.Tehseen wrote:A remake of black cauldron may be.............. lol
It's not a new site. It's not a partnership. And it's not a remake revision.
It DOES include brand new material and, with that, a new site and a new handful of things.
I just threw some cat fur into the cauldron. It's really beginning to bubble now...
Re: New Stuff! Happy Holidays from the AGDI & Himalaya Family
Ahh...
Come on!
Any new information on the new game? Al Emmo was a great first release. I am eager to know what is next!

Re: New Stuff! Happy Holidays from the AGDI & Himalaya Family
Hopefully soon. We've lost some workers on the project, so unfortunately progress has been delayed, and we haven't been able to produce assets fast enough to build a media showcase for public announcement yet.
If everything goes according to plan, though, we should be able to release some screenshots and information in the near future!

IS that a kq3 reference?I just threw some cat fur into the cauldron. It's really beginning to bubble now...
Re: New Stuff! Happy Holidays from the AGDI & Himalaya Family
Was there a cauldron in KQ3? I remember there being a book, a henious cat, and a porridge (heh, I always have found funny the sound of that word), but I don't remember a cauldron.
