I just finished playing the game again, and no, he will not rescue you on the easy path.

It's okay, Lira. Just dig up a copy of KQ6(if you can.). And just play it again.
The Knight

Yeah, it was fun playing it again. And this game has only a few timing problems (grabbing the pearl was tough), but they were all manageable even without any slowdown utility.

I've never had a timing problem with any Sierra game I've played on my computer. Then again, it is a celeron and pathetic compared to other computers. But, at least I can play my Sierra games to play right.
The Knight

That's cool for you. I tried playing SQ4 last night and I couldn't get past the first part in the SQX sequence b/c the sequel police show up too soon. I've been considering trying to put together another computer from old parts so that I can play these games that I have.

Well, I do have a problem with speed sometimes. But the only one where I'd have preferred a faster comp is GK3!!! It does have some long loading times. *sigh* But when I tried it on my father's comp (which is quite a bit older and doesn't have the 256 extra RAM that I added to my original 64), I gave it up after a few minutes. The loading times made playing the game practically impossible!

<td nowrap style=filter:glow(color="mintcream", strength=#+15)> Lira Lindriel - - - - - - - Magic is real - unless defined integer!

Backyard Discussions ~x~ Lira's Duchy ~x~ My poems, stories and tags

I think...............................................

#58 Post by The Knight » Mon Jan 20, 2003 1:03 am

Actually, I whould have slight speed issues if I was playing the disk version. Like in QFG3, When the thief starts to run off after stealing from the money changer. He whould just zip by in the disk version making it real hard to get the points for knocking over the fruit basket to make him slip. But, in the CD version. With the same settings, he went slow enough to make him slip on the fruit.
So, it might be because its the disk version. If not, then you'll need a slower computer.
The Knight

If I remember correctly, pushing over the fruit or throwing a dagger isn't the best solution by far anyway. I'm not sure anymore if you get more points for casting calm (which works only for a mage anyway) or simply running after him (that is really running, not just following)
But I know what you mean. Last time I played (I usually have speed pretty much on max), I couldn't even look fast enough! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

<td nowrap style=filter:glow(color="mintcream", strength=#+15)> Lira Lindriel - - - - - - - Magic is real - unless defined integer!

Backyard Discussions ~x~ Lira's Duchy ~x~ My poems, stories and tags

Thief...............................................

If you are the thief, knocking over the fruit is the best option.
The Knight

*hunts up the point lists she's found somewhere on the net*

Points all chars can get: Chase Thief to next scene: 8
Other possible solutions: Knock over fruit: 5
Throw dagger at thief: 5
Stop thief with magic: 7
Try to stop thief with magic and fail: 4

So I would say no matter what char you play as simply running after the thief gives you the most points! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> All other solutions are kind of "dishonorable". With the fruit, you knock over someone else's possessions, with the dagger you harm the thief, with the magic you go against the rule of not using magic in Tarna (other than Kreesha's house)

<td nowrap style=filter:glow(color="mintcream", strength=#+15)> Lira Lindriel - - - - - - - Magic is real - unless defined integer!

Backyard Discussions ~x~ Lira's Duchy ~x~ My poems, stories and tags

Okay fine, chasing the thief is the better option.
The Knight

King's Quest 5 and 6

#63 Post by Caindogg » Fri Feb 28, 2003 9:02 am

Hi, Mate. So sorry on the late delay in conversing about King's Quest 5. But anyways, yes you can get a lesser score than the perfect score simply doing some of the following actions: Using the boot instead of the stick for the dog. Throwing the stick at the cat instead of the dog. Buying the cloak with the gold coin and giving the needle to the Gypsy <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> Anyway if there are any more ways of making a lesser score I'd like to know.

By the way, in King's Quest 6. The best solution towards the end is to talk to Jollo and give him the replicia lamp from the Lamp Seller that is displayed throughout the cutscent when Alexander swallows the Drink Me potion in the pawn shop while the Genie the "Black Cloacked Man" is inside the shop. Spoiler. The lamp is the tall thin blue lamp.

Well, I hoped that help you for Kings Quest 6. And for the not full score for King's Quest 5.

Caindogg

Hehe! Yeah. Best chance of them doing that is when we move into the hologram-age. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
