Graphical walkthrough for KQ1

#1 Post by Que » Tue Feb 04, 2003 2:38 am

I just finished a walkthrough site for the King's Quest I remake. This site has maps, item details and step-by-step directions on getting each of the treasures.

Link:
DrQue.net ...

Hope you like it!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... ums>Que at: 2/4/03 5:47:15 pm

Good work, Que. It seems to be quite comprehensive. On just a quick viewing though, I did notice several typo's in different areas. You should do a bit of proofreading to get those corrected.

Don't go out the same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over
You've got to believe in yourself this time

I think for the image in your sig, you need to spell out "image" instead of abbreviating it.

Actually, regarding the image that didn't work; there was a button to add an image when I made this post. So, I pushed it, specified the URL, and it didn't work.

But... for whatever reason, it seemed to work this time. eh.

Oh ya, the spelling and grammar. I have some people working on that since I can't do it! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> I am correcting errors as I get reports of them. A few comments

#8 Post by TheFatherInLaw » Fri Feb 07, 2003 3:06 am

A little comment on the "Enemies: Sorcerer" section.

As Erpy once said, the enchanters in Daventry and Kolyma are not the same person. Not only do they wear different outfits, but the Daventry sorcerer is in the audience when the Father is revealed at the end!

Obviously a sorcerer wouldn't likely visit the castle of someone who'd held a sword to his throat, so they must be different people.

I understand you're dyslexic, so I can forgive the typos.
However, it would be cool if the pictures from the game were not blown up or blurred to tone down their quality, so that a visitor would actually see what the game appeared like.

Other than that, great job!

It's worth noting that the character in KQ2VGA is an enchanter, not a sorceror.

Hi.
I was hoping you might put a screenshot showing where to stand to get the darn condor to pick you up. I've been trying to get past this part unsuccessfully for ages!
:-)

That's a good idea. Will you do that?

In the meantime, scour the screen of the dragon's cave. Holy Moly! You really outdid yourself! This is so in-depth. I didn't know that anybody would want to spend a few weeks (my guess) on making a website to demonstrate how to beat a game that can be summed up in about 2 paragraphs <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

GOOD WORK! Condor and comments

#15 Post by Que » Wed Feb 12, 2003 3:45 pm

As requested, I added a bit more about catching the condor. Unfortunately, I don't have catching the condor mastered, so I offered everything I do know. Any other tips would be appreciated.

Extra tips page:
<a href="http://DrQue.net/KingsQuest/CatchingCon ...

This page is now linked from the Magic Shield walkthrough.

To avoid a huge number of reply posts, I'll comment on a few other things here.

Spelling and grammar: Checking should be nearly complete. I'd like to thank my thank my buddy and long-time Quest for Glory fan "Zen" for helping me out with this.

Sorcerer: You are right guys, the Sorcerer is not the same as the Enchanter in King's Quest II. My mistake. (I guess I'll have to find an other way to get revenge on this nuisance.)

And thankx to everyone who has visited the site and posted remarks! You guys/gals are great!! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

If you look closely at the floor, there is something that looks like an X. You've got to stand exactly there, then catching the condor is easy.

<td nowrap style=filter:glow(color="mintcream", strength=#+15)> Lira Lindriel - - - - - - - Magic is real - unless defined integer!

Backyard Discussions ~x~ Lira's Duchy ~x~ My poems, stories and tags

I still get a decent number of hits on this site, so I figured I'd update everyone with the new location:

Link:
KingsQues ...

Sometime ago, we switched our server OS to Linux, web server to Apache and learned about virtual hosts-- but that has nothing to do with KQ1.

- Que

Que!!!!!!

I just wanted to tell you that this is some very impressive work! Very well done my friend! I have had both the tierra remakes for some time, but just havent had the time to play them. However once I saw your walkthrough I immediately began to play through KQ1VGA! This is excellent work, and also a great compliment to the tierra team! You truly have a gift when it comes to these graphical walkthroughs and you should definately pursue this further. Once again I am very impressed and keep up the superior work!

Que, there's no need to refrain from listing the easter eggs just because I already mentioned them in my FAQ. Just reword them a bit and use screenshots if possible.

In fact, the new version (3.0) will contain two more "easter eggs" (one minor textual reference and one major egg) and I don't think I'll be including them in my FAQ until they are found. If you can find them, go ahead and get the credits for it.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashn ...

Que, I must say that it is a very impressive walkthrough, but I find it a little hard to follow. I've looked at it twice so far, but do you think you could also have a straight walkthrough? I think I would get confused trying to do everything if this was one of my first adventure games ever.

---------

"Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?"
"Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"
----------
Sponge Factory

Personally, I like it the way it is. It makes it easy for you to find the information relevant to your problem without getting more than what you need.

For instance, let's say I know I need to go down the well, but I'm not sure what to do beyond that. A quick look at the well page on the walkthrough would tell me exactly what to do. At the same time, I would not get any premature information about, say, how to catch the condor. I can still try to figure that out on my own.

"Let me show you what hope you have."

New stuff

#22 Post by Que » Mon Sep 29, 2003 10:42 am

Added a new fetches to the King's Quest I walkthrough site, the ability for people to add their own comments to pages. If you know the game inside and out, and see that I have missed something in the walkthrough, you can add it.

I figured I'd post this news in the forms, since most people that go to the my walkthrough are looking for answers rather than looking to add information.

Hope you like it <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
