Voice actors (UPDATED - 26 September)

#1 Post by Alias » Sat Sep 25, 2004 9:42 pm

Are there any good voice actors around here? I will announce a project thats I've been woking on for almost a year, and I figure I should start getting some voice actors soon.

I guess that depends on how you define "good". I've been told I have a good voice for radio, and I know that I'm able to modify my voice somewhat. Haven't had any practical experience, though, more like practicing to myself.

Of course, I have no idea if my voice is suited for one of your characters, so even if I qualify as a good voice actor, I have no idea if I'm usable.

I am a good voice actor. I don't have any credentials to speak of other than my Dj experience in the Navy and doing local shows around Dallas, but I will gladly work for free if it's toward a future in computer games. (my love).

Wow some replays! :eek

Anyways, Its a Space Quest fan game. The characters so far will be:

Urgent:
-Roger Wilco - dump & innocent, male.
-Narrator - Smart ass, male.
-StarCon representative - old & pushy, male.
-Captain Quirk - cocky, male.
-Sarien Alien #1 - very straight to the point like a soldier, male.
-Sarien Alien #2 - a nother soldier but slightly goofy, male.
-Sludge Vohaul - Bad guy, Deep voice & fat, male.
-Beatrice Wankmeister - Honest & gentle, Female.

Those are the more urgent ones for now, then theres your extra alien and characters like that.

Not urgent:
-Punk #1 - Big & stupid, male.
-Punk #2 - a small alien with a high voice, male.
-Sheila - a biker chick, female.

Those are the ones for now. There will be more soon. If you are want to apply, upload a sample of your voice via the internet (freewebs or whatever) then send a link here. ;)

I guess you don't have a website online yet that shows how far your project is in development, but I suggest holding off voice recording until the alpha testing starts at least. (or even after releasing the game) You don't want to start recording when the game's lines are still subject to change.

True. ;) But our game will be released with the voice overs and music. There will be an option for other low tech users to not download the voice pack.

The graphics are like SQ4 but a bit different, just a bit. And our site will be out next month.

What about those who might want to apply but can't upload their audio clips or feel shy about letting everyone in this forum hear them?

Do I have to send you a sample of my own voice? Didn't you had enough of my funny voices when we were talking together in msn?

I just ran an errand for my brother so I may borrow his mic tomorow. to try for this "audition". In the state my voice is in I can do high as well as low voices and adjustments. Being a Space Quest game I assume you wouldn't want accents as I don't really do them well....eh? So I'll PM you I geuss and we'll go from there. In other words "My people will call your people"

Thanks Rog, I would, but I'm so busy with my projects now, I'd be afraid to commit to any else, for fear I wouldn't complete my work.
