MoE Remake.

#1 Post by Alias » Thu Oct 28, 2004 10:35 am

I was just thinking about how easy it would be to make a MoE remake? You could use 90% of all the backgrounds there and just edit them or keep them with the 3D feel. And we could use the same cutscenes. (I have a program that can record wahtever you have playing on your screen.) and slap them togheter in AGS. The game is just there waiting for someone to remake it. Even the music and everything is there, all we need to do is add characters and more puzzles. :D

Using those 3D backgrounds in AGS??? That doesn't really sound like it would work, as far as I'm concerned.

What you probably have is the music and that's just about all the reusable content in the original MOE.

I could go into some more detail about why I think your statement is a little hasty, but I think "it doesn't work that way" sums things up nicely.

Talk to Hollister_Man. He's already doing a version. He posts here infrequently, but you can find him on the www.agsforums.com/yabb boards.

It was just an idea. And yes AGS goes well with 3D backgrounds. Still though.

Didn't someone recently make a game using rooms that were screenshots taken from Doom? I vaguely remember reading it in the Games in Production group on the AGS Forums.

Yeah I played it. I can get it for you. But what does that have to do with MoE?

Have you experimented with 3D in AGS? I have and it works fine. ;)

What, 3D like Bryce or 3D like screen captures of a game?

I would suggest that AGS is not actually a prime choice when dealing with true 3-d graphics. That, I believe, is one of the reasons KQ9 is writing (or has written) their own engine. Perhaps it would be easier to write a half-life mod that does adventure gaming.

Why a new story line? I think KQ8 had the best story line.

!?!? The best!? I think it was ok, but I don't think it was the best! Especially next to great ones like KQ3 and KQ6.

Then either tease him back or ignore him, but don't start calling people names.
