Yes, Muzlak's group, Sponge Factory is making it. Yet I've lost the link to the site.

Yeah, it's not looking too good is it?

I'm really sitting on this one. I haven't decided whether I'll ever find the time in my busy life to work on this anymore.

It's hard to remake a game.  I know!

It doesn't matter if theres another remake yopu want to do, you only want to practice anyway, that my opinion anyway.

These things take time to do. Ask the AGD's they'll be able to tell you.

Yes, it does take time.

It's a real shame, because when I started the project, I had just got done with a (very) long RPG project with an engine I coded from scratch. And I was ready to start an even bigger project.

The thing that really sucks about all of this, was that I had all this free time, and I spent all of it on the game. But a few months into the project, I started going to college, and a few months later, I got a job as a software developer.

I ran out of time. I became really really busy. And now, several years later, the game could have (i'm sure of it) been done a long time ago if this real life stuff didn't happen. But I guess that's the way things work. It would be awesome to finish the project.

I'm a dreamer...

Well, don't put yourself down Muzlak, I said I wanted to do the VGA remake but I don't even know how! I don't know how to make sprites or anything like that! It's a shame really....I could write a story but I hate always having write stories! I'm sick of it! At least you can make a game, I may never make one...... :(

FGF -> You could always start with something small. Think five rooms, three characters and a dozen objects. Just hand-draw it, we'll still play it (think Larry Vales for a sample of how one does not need top-notch graphics for a fun game)

Muzlak -> ooh, RPG? Which one?

Though I don't know how much writing you'd need to do on a remake, as the story is already complete.

Radiant,

Our RPG project culminated in this:

http://www.nancycarterdesign.com/sponge ... snbeta.zip

It's really very sloppy, but quite enjoyable. We originally had plans to create a serious game with it (titled Arean's Wish), but we couldn't find any writers that were serious enough to devote to the project. It ended up with us writing this short game with the finished engine.

Even though the code is terribly written, and I'd never work with it again if my life depended on it, it is pretty impressive for a 15 year old kid to have done (this was several years ago). It had:

-A scripting engine (primitive)
-Several external editors (nothing was hardcoded, one could create several original games with it)
-A decent battle system

I'm still pretty proud of it, but would take a totally different approach now, several years later.

Very nice. Esspecially for a 15-year old!  8o

No, seriously, that's pretty cool.
