Why did you remake King's Quest II?
In 1985, King's Quest II: Romancing The Throne was released as a sequel to its predecessor. While having a number of sound adventure game elements, some feel that it was but an extension of the first game. At AGDI, we endeavored to make the game as great as its potential suggested. An extended plot, fleshed out characters, and an increased challenge in gameplay were painstakingly integrated. We enjoyed remaking the game to the best standard it could be, and it is our hope that you will be able to experience the same enjoyment playing it.

Did you keep the same title?
Almost. The title has been re-named to King's Quest II: Romancing The Stones. Aside from bringing it closer to the film from which the original title was derived, the new title more accurately reflects the revamped plot.

When will the game be released? I want to play it now!
And play it now you can! The King's Quest II remake was released on December 3, 2002.

The original game felt like a mixed collection of fairy tales. Is this still the case? If not, how does it differ?
Fairy tales are a very integral and important part of the King's Quest universe, but they are not the be-all and end-all. While every effort has been made to retain the fairy tale elements from the original game, much care has been taken to integrate them with subtlety. We believe players find satisfaction in establishing links themselves.

In King's Quest II: Romancing The Stones, some real connections have been drawn between the characters. They relate to each other and have personal histories. As a basic example, ask yourself this: Just what was that stuff doing under Grandma's bed?

Am I to understand, then, that you've altered the map?
Yes. Considerably, in fact. Kolyma now feels like a land with a geography that makes sense. The realm is now steeped in history... and now supports a population! In addition, entirely new areas are available to explore. The land of Kolyma has undergone a geological evolution!

What about the plot? How close is this game to the original?
The original premise has been maintained. One will recognize the skeletal story outline, but will experience a LOT more in the way of plot, characters, puzzles, and an immersive setting.

So if I've played the original, then I should find this game easy?
Not at all. In fact, there will be many extra things to experience; puzzle extensions, plot twists, fleshed out characters, local history... you'll almost think you're playing a different game. And yes, we believe that's a good thing!

Will you include voice acting like in the King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown remake?
As of Version 3.0, the speech pack is included with the game download, and is no longer a separate download. Additionally, the game now contains narration vocals!

What can I do to help?
Download it right now and help to spread the word!
