The big day is finally here! After over a year of nonstop hard work, the KQII:RTS game is ready to download! We hope you enjoy it and are excited to hear about your gaming experiences!

Well, as you can see, we've performed a major overhaul of the website. We've also purchased some new server space and can now be found at both www.tierragames.com and www.tierraentertainment.com. Enjoy!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to send out this quick note to further build your anticipation for KQ2VGA as well as to apologize for these last delays that are keeping KQ2VGA from your hot little hands! I'm not one of the esteemed AGDs and I'm not Chris Jones, but I'm so honored to play a small and humble part in Tierra's release of this classic by adding this "little something" to it. Believe me, I am working as hard as I can to finish this mystery-feature because I am just as over-eager to play the game as you are! (Nope, I haven't seen any of the beta versions). Like the dedication for everything else on this project, in cooperation with the AGDs I am working to make this mystery-feature the best it can be!

Hi, everyone! Another month has gone by and King's Quest II: Romancing The Stones is that much closer to a public release. If you've been following the Tierra Message Board, you know that the game is currently in the beta testing process. A total of seven 'alpha' and two 'beta' versions have so far been tested. (Have I really played through this game nine times already!?) Well, I'm happy to report that, for all practical purposes, beta testing is about complete! Just a couple of adjustments are taking place now; Graham and the cast are all in final makeup and wardrobe, ready to perform 'live.' We're very grateful to all the beta testers who've helped make KQ2:RTS the best it could be. They've all spent many hours trying to forsee every situation you might encounter, and make sure everything works as it should. (Does that mean we can blame them if you don't like the game?) In any case, the long wait is finally coming to an end. And based on the reactions we've received from our beta testers, you're going to love playing this game!

Hey guys... first, let's have a moment of silence for the victims of September 11th....
Ok, I just wanted to make another update and let you know what's going on behind the scenes right now at Tierra, which is actually a lot! I just downloaded the newest beta version of KQ2+VGA today, and it's incredible...there are so many little additions to the game that I hadn't actually noticed before, and I'm just in awe with the final product. And there are still a few more things to add! Honestly, Tom's, Wookie's, and AGD2's work in the game is just a piece of art--it's a complete masterpiece! There were moments while playing through the beta version that I actually felt a deep, emotional response...and this is coming from a girl who didn't even cry when Susan Sarandon was about to die of cancer in the movie Stepmom with Julia Roberts. Anyhow, I'm just proud to have been able to work with such a talented team on this project. I don't think anyone has any clue just how original this game is--it's like playing a completely new release by Sierra! I think it's safe to say, it's at least as original as any other fan project I know of...and it's actually complete as well (yayy)! Anyhow, today, I've been working on dialogue pictures for a future project, and have gotten several done. Wookie has created an enhanced plot...AGD#2 has made several dialogue pictures as well, and is continuing on backgrounds. Actually, come to think of it, I better get back to work. I want to complete two more dialogue pictures tonight, and at least a background. Until next time!

Hey guys, good news...tons of stuff is going on again behind the scenes at Tierra! I've got my computer back, and have started working full time as a game developer again, able to take part in the game making process instead of just game playing. Today, I completed a background for a secret project, as well as a dialogue picture, which I colored...AGD#2 has completed about four or five backgrounds, and I've drawn 5 dialogue pictures and colored 3 of them. King's Quest II+VGA is still coming along great, and we might even have a surprise addition to the game. I can't wait for the beta testing process to begin, and I'm sure many of you guys are eager to participate as well. Wookie has been working on something top secret as well...wow, what an exciting time! I'm glad to inform all of you that once KQ2VGA is released, we don't plan on resting...instead, we will continue to go full speed ahead and progress into more exciting projects! If all goes as planned, this next year could be a great year for adventure gamers! I'll try to write more frequent journal entries since a lot is happening again, meaning there will be a lot of information to update you on!

Hi everybody! I was a bit bad, and decided I couldn't wait any longer, and imported myself to the last 1/3 of the KQ2+VGA game and pressed the secret keys which gave myself all the inventory items. It was still a challenge to complete the game, even with this "slightly" unfair advantage--making me believe this game could give the average adventure game player MONTHS of enthralling game play time! After seeing the completed endgame, with music, animations, dialogue pics--everything put together into one big scene, I was utterly spellbound. I can't describe the experience in words...the closest description I can come up with is, "wow" (with my hands placed on either side of my face and my jaw dropped to the ground)! I, I...wow...ok, oh my gosh...breaaatheee....How is it possible to get THIS excited at your own work, I will never know...but it's great to have this feeling! The game has gone into three alpha versions, with the beta coming up soon--probably next. This means all those who are interested in beta testing better set aside the next year of their life, get those resume creating kits out and start self-promoting your highly exercised "game testing" skills, and lastly, make all checks and money order bribes payable to Anonymous Game Developer #1 at Tierra Entertainment...oh, uh, don't worry, I'll split all bribes with the team. We'll keep you posted on what stages the game's in. Once it goes beta, will be sure to let everyone know where to send applications!
07/24/02
Hello once again! I figured I'd grab the opportunity to update the "NEWS" page while nobody was looking! Besides, it's been a while since we've shared what's going on behind the scenes, here at Tierra. King's Quest II+: Romancing The Stones is in the final stages of scripting, animating, music and sound composing, and dialogue changes. (Yes, the Wookie has been kept busy writing right on up to the end!)
I always knew the AGD's and Cadbury Wookie were talented individuals, but with the release of the first complete game alpha demo, I've been blown away by what they've done. The writing is spectacular; every conceivable thought the player may have while adventuring through Kolyma has been addressed. The graphics and animations are comparable to anything Sierra ever produced, and very often times, far better. All of us have favorite parts of the game. Mine is everything in the underwater realm, and that covers quite a bit. You're gonna be blown away when you see what AGD2 did with these scenes. AGD2's a lot like me; he doesn't what to leave well-enough alone....make it better! And that's exactly what's been done.
As of today, I'm working on the last few, newly added songs for the game. I counted them and came up with 128 in total...so far. Plus, there's a variety of sound effects I've been creating, along with AGD2. AGD1 has submitted the last of the dialogue pics and they're now in the game. Fortunately, the Wookie's whip is cracking in AGD2's direction this week, and not mine; a few last minute text updates are needed. But overall, we're all very excited as can be to finally be nearing the end of this project and seeing it all put together! It won't be long and beta testing will begin. And then......

Hey guys, long time no journal entry. I just wanted to let you all know here we're at in the game development process. At the moment, if I'm not mistaken, past of the end game is the last remaining scene to be scripted. Once that is completed, we will go through an extensive bug fixing/testing process in-house before we start the official beta testing phase. I also have two more specialized pictures to draw, and will work on those this week to try to get them finished once and for all. The whole team has done an absolutely wonderful job putting this game together, creating works of art in all areas, from music, to writing, and even the scripting of the game. There is so much attention to detail in all areas, and I guarantee this game has outdone KQ1VGA in all aspects. Even though it was hard at times to keep working, due to unpredictable outside circumstances, the team still trudged forward to make this game reality. Thanks to the help of Erpy, we've also had more time to worry about the actual creation of the game. I would personally like to applaud the team for all their hard work and dedication, and what will be one heck of an amazing game.
05/30/02
Hi All! Yes, it's been quite a long while since we've made any updates to this news page. But rest assured that we're still hard at work on KQ2VGA! As a matter of fact, it's been taking up so much of our time over the past few months, that it's the main reason why we haven't made many news posts! We estimate that the game is currently about 90% finished with only 2 major scenes left to be scripted. After they're done, we will begin the alpha testing demo, which will be distributed amongst the members if the KQ2 team only. The alpha process will involve weeding out any large bugs and plot/puzzle inconsistencies. Then, once we're satisfied that the game is ready enough, we'll begin the first beta testing round, and will be asking for applications from people. The good news is that we're running ahead of schedule, thanks to the new Windows version of the AGS editor. It has certainly helped speed progress up and has really reduced the amount of time that it would normally take to test the game! About 90% of the music has been completed and the standard MIDI conversions are being made done right now by Tom. A few minor story/puzzle problems have been patched up, and a brand new mini-quest was added as late as last week (Sometimes even the game's designer has no idea how their finished game is going to turn out!). All in all, we're in the home stretch now! With a little more hard work, a few more sleepless nights (and all the other agonies associated with creating a game if this magnitude).. we'll be done!
04/26/02
Hi guys! No worries..I'm still alive. Wait, what, you didn't even miss me?? Hmmm... Well, the good news is, even though I've been on my deathbed for the past 6 weeks or so, the team has been functioning rather well without me. I decided though that I wanted to get my job out of the way before I continue to go into hibernation, and slow the game dev process down at the same time. So, I made a goal to finish ALL remaining artwork for the KQ2VGA remake within the next 2 weeks. This goal began on Monday, so I can already tell you about the progress I've made in about half a week now. I completed, hmm, 6 or 7 or 8 or more(I can't even remember anymore. It was a lot, though!) specialized pictures and dialogue pictures! These pictures include closeup scenes from the game, where a story can basically be seen in each picture. It's much more detailed and difficult to make than an average dialogue pictures, as you need to portray action, a feeling, and often, include additional drawings in the background. You need to keep all the elements of design in mind when making one of these pictures, making sure that it has an overall good composition, colors that portray a certain feeling, lights all hitting the characters from the same source, etc etc etc. Within the next few days, in my opinion, all dialogue and specialized screens for the game will be finished, leaving me to work on animations. I think if we try really hard, we may even be able to get the majority of the animations done within the next couple weeks as well. The game is coming along REALLY nicely though! I can't believe how much more is done day by day. Soon it will be finished...oh yes, one day soon... By the way, I hope you guys all had fun reading the newsletter. If you didn't receive it,and would like to get one next time, be sure to sign up for it on the front page of the official Tierra website. Kwaheri!
04/08/02
Hi guys! Just thought I would make a journal entry, and let you know what's been going on here at Tierra. First off, sorry I haven't been around much, but I've been sick for the past four weeks. I've been instructed by the team to take some time off and get healthy, since I'm not much use when I'm sick. So, I've been taking it easy lately...but, no worries, because I don't have too much work left artwise when I return. I did manage to write a newsletter on my leave of absence, which is being edited by the team. I also have made some minor website updates, including adding the forum rules on the "discuss it" pages of Tierra and KQ1VGA. We added an off topic forum, where you can talk about things that are...well, off topic! Seems that many people have welcomed this forum with open hands. Additionally, we have given Erpy moderator status, so he can help us out answering questions and managing the forums. That should leave us a lot more time for making games, since that, and emails, were taking up so much of our time! Ok, I'm going to head out and get some rest. But, if you don't hear from me on the forums all that often for the next week or two, don't worry. I'm just recovering, and will be back full time shortly afterwards.
03/25/02
Hi guys! What an exciting month it's turned out to be. Well, other than the fact that I've been sick for the past two weeks, and I've heard from a doctor that it should last for another FOUR. But, no worries, although I have been trying to relax, I have not been taking it easy, and have forced myself to get back to work. Other than illness, a lot has happened since the rumors have been spreading of the potential release of adventure games by Sierra! What a glorious day that would be (of course, only if they abide by the rules of good adventure game making). Anyhow, over the past few weeks, we've been interviewed by several magazines, including one that should make it to the shelves of some local bookstores. I'll be sure to keep you all updated on their release. Additionally, we have been posted as news on slashdot.com, and have received well over 7,000 visitors shortly after the news was posted! If any of you don't know what slashdot.com is, I highly recommend you check it out, and would like to tell you, getting on there is something that we regard as being very, very cool. Maybe this will bring an influx of new guests to the visitor forums that we'll all get the chance to meet. Other than all of the previous things I've mentioned, I spent the last week at the Game Developer's Conference in San Jose, and learned some interesting information from Vivendi Universal, and also had the chance to talk to a lot of other game companies, and even Microsoft about DirectX. Perhaps I'll get a chance to write a longer journal concerning these things at another time, but this post is already getting full of news as is. Other than all of THAT, we've managed to release a 1/3 game demo to all the game developers, which we are testing as I write this. This means, we have roughly 1/3 of the game completely finished. The other 2/3 of the game has a lot of work completed, but it has to be pieced together through scripting. I've been working on dialogue pictures lately, and am really close to finishing up the whole list of pictures for KQ2VGA. I've also been spending a lot of my time working on a secret project, and spending any extra time on dialogue pictures for a RPG. Ok guys, it's been a long day. I'm going to try to fit in a little more work before bed, but I'll be sure to see you all in the forums soon!
03/10/02
Hey guys! I just thought I'd drop off another quick note about progress. As of yesterday, I was hoping to get some work done on the specialized pictures of the endgame sequence. Well, good news. I worked from the time I woke up until now, which is time to go to bed, and I finished ALL of them! AGD#2 has even had the chance to touch them up to prepare them for scripting. It was a lot of work, but this means that Tom can now finish composing the endgame music, and AGD#2 can finish scripting the endgame! In no time now, we should have an entirely complete endgame, taking a huge chunk of work off our plates, and we can mark it off as being finalized for good! Progress on the secret project is going excellent as well. I would tell you more about what's going on there, but, basically, as you know, it's a secret:) Anyhow, I'm exhausted, so I'm going to get some sleep. Looking forward to get tons of work done on the games this week though!
03/08/02
Hey guys! Long time no journal entry. I thought I would take the chance to see if this is working properly again, ever since our host cut off our CFM pages for the past few weeks. Things seem to be working properly though now, so let's hope it continues to be this way in the future. Right now, I'm working on the endgame specialized pictures, and hopefully, I can get those completed and out of the way this weekend. That would allow Tom to compose the last part of the endgame score, completing the endgame once and for all! The scripting of the game is probably around 85% done now. Many parts were scripted without animations though, so those will need to be filled in as we complete more of them. This game is huge though, filled with tons of action, so the animations will take some time. Tom's list of music to create is getting smaller and smaller, and Wookie's list of plot to complete is nonexistent. My list of extra dialogue pics is also nearly gone, so, I guess that leaves us with animations! Oh, I thought that I'd also mention, we won 3 AGS awards just recently for the KQ1VGA remake! The categories we won in were best room art, best animation, and best documentation! We're going to keep these areas in KQ2VGA high quality, and hopefully even better than KQ1VGA. And maybe, with all the extra work we're putting into KQ2VGA, we'll even be able to snag a few more award over the next year (if we could pull off awards in plot/music/and character art, it would be great. At least we have a goal to aim for...)! Ok guys, I'm off to finish these pictures...talk to you soon!
02/05/02
Hi again, guys. I still don't have a computer yet, as my last three orders didn't go through. But hopefully, I should be receiving a computer this week. Once this happens, I will start working on animations and coloring again. But, I assure you that the lack of computer and frequent updates (I hope to start this again once I have a computer in my room) does not mean that we've been slacking off. I've almost finished all the specialized dialogue pictures now, and have been drawing every spare minute that I have (which is a lot, since I'm back in school). Today alone, I completed five highly detailed dialogue pictures, some of my favorite in the game. And in the past week, I've created so many special pieces of artwork for the game, that I feel like I'm in the Disney animation studios since my room is flooded with all these character drawings! But, I realized, this is a total dream...I don't think that there is anything that brings me more joy than working on making adventure games. I really feel lucky to be doing this...and hope that all of our efforts and enthusiasm that we put into the project will not go unnoticed. I think the love that we put into this game will really make it an enjoyable experience to play once it's released. Ok, I'm calling it a night...but I can hardly wait until morning...
01/27/02
Hi guys...I'm back in America. I don't have a computer yet, so I'm having to make use of somebody else's. So, until next week, I still shouldn't be around too much, but I'm still working on the specialized artwork for the game. I just had the opportunity to see some more of the work that was done while I was gone...and, I don't know how to explain this, but it just blew me away. Nobody will be expecting what I just experienced, and I can guarantee, it will be the first fan game EVER that has made such a daring move. Perhaps the last as well. It's really an amazing experience, being able to work with such a talented group of people, that can create some of the most fantastic things I've ever seen from scratch. Sure, anybody with the drive can make a game...but I have yet to see a team of amateur developers that has such pure, raw talent. The way Wookie chooses his words, the way Tom can create the amazing sound track...the attention to detail AGD2 brings to scripting...it's really an honor for me, working with such a devoted team of talented individuals. I can't wait for all of you to experience the same game that I've seen coming together for the past several months.
01/12/02
Hi everybody. I just wanted to write an "auf Wiedersehen" entry, since I most likely won't be on the computer for a few weeks starting anytime now. I'm moving back to America, and leaving this computer behind, so I won't be around until I buy a new computer back home. This past week, I put in double time, trying to finish as much as I could so I wouldn't be necessary to the game dev process during my absence. We've gotten almost ALL of the 140 backgrounds done now, and scripted into the engine. I think we have maybe 5 more to do or so, which will take absolutely no time at all. Tom wrote some fantastic music for the last backgrounds that we made, that really creates a mystical atmosphere. In fact, the last backgrounds/music that were made just happen to be my favorite spot in the whole game now! I know that a lot of people seemed to like Cloudland in the KQ1VGA remake. Well, this place, in my opinion, will be like the "cloudland" of KQIIVGA...just no clouds are in this land:) But it's still very magical, beautiful, and surreal. We've also got more dialogue pictures done, and slowly, I see the end of that job drawing near. Although, the dialogue pictures are one of the easier parts of the game to complete, and I consider it more of a "fun, easy, laid back" type job. When things get rough and tough, I take time off and make dialogue pics, as it's really a treat. As for scripting, that's also coming along very well. As backgrounds were made, they were immediately scripted into the engine, so no work has piled up for anyone. The endgame sequence is the next part that is going to be scripted, so that Tom can complete the music for it. Hehe, I also might mention, if you look really hard in the completed game, you might be able to learn more about us Anonymous Game Developers. That's my Wookiesque type riddle for the year... As for the QFGIIVGA remake, we've been moving forward by leaps and bounds! We're getting all the stats systems worked out to perfection, so that the game will be ready to script once the KQIIVGA remake is released. Ok guys and gals, I'm going to head out. I'll be excited to hear from you all on the forums, and keep you updated on progress, when I return!
01/06/02
Hi guys. I just wanted to mention that the site is up and running again, and should continue to be in working condition from this point on (keeping my fingers crossed). I also might mention that our dream has come true, and now, it is 100% certain that the import/export feature will work in the QFGIIVGA remake! Tons of other features will work as well, including impressive day and night transitions, stats, and full screen dialogue pictures (although, it's still to be decided if we will use this feature). We will continue working on the KQIIVGA remake to completion, as we must prioritize, or else we'd never get any of the games done. But rest assured, that when the time comes to finish up the QFGIIVGA remake, it will turn out to be the best game that it could possibly be. If you want to see the progress of the KQIIVGA remake, just check out the FAQ section on the KQII site. We've updated it with information on where the game stands. I wish everybody a happy belated new year (sorry, the site was down. I would have done this sooner), and we're looking forward to releasing the KQIIVGA remake during 2002!
