Voice Pack Released

We have just released the highly anticipated voice pack to accompany the King's Quest 1 VGA remake. As a highlight, the voice pack features the acting talents of the original Graham of King's Quest 5 fame. In addition to this professional Sierra talent, numerous other actors from around the world contributed their skills, enhancing the gaming experience for the thousands of fans who have already downloaded the remake.

For the voice pack to function properly, you will need to download the newest version of the King's Quest game, which was just recently released. You can find both the voice pack and version 2.0 of the game on our KQ1VGA feature page.

If you have any problems with the volume of the speech compared to the music, please check the sound settings in Windows. If you are still having problems, please address them in our KQVGAbugs forum: https://www.agdinteractive.com/forum/.

Version 2.0 of the King's Quest VGA Remake Released

An updated version of the King's Quest 1 VGA remake has been released. Version 2.0 includes several bug fixes, and also is compatible with the newly released voice pack. For a full list of features added to this version, please check out our forum topic dedicated to this subject [old link now gone].

Statistics on the Release Of the Remake

Since releasing the King's Quest 1 VGA remake, we've had an overwhelming number of positive responses from the fans! Here is what some of the fans are saying:

We recently updated our site with a testimonials section, so if you're interested in hearing what more of the fans are saying, be sure to check it out on our KQ1VGA feature page. If you would like to submit your own comments on your gaming experience, please email us.

Before releasing the game, we had hoped that over the course of our lifetime, we could get 400 people to download the game. In less than a month after its initial release, we've had over 5,200 people download the game! What's even more exciting, is the number of downloads per day has not been slowing down, but instead, increasing! If you are interested in the number of people downloading the game, we try to include updates every so often in the designer journals on the official website. You can find the designer journal page here.

I also might mention, we have gotten an offer for our game to be put on a CD which will be found on a Hungarian magazine cover. We are still in negotiations, and will be sure to keep you all updated on this issue.

Articles and Interviews

Since the last newsletter, we've been included in two feature articles at the Just Adventure website. Just Adventure has been a tremendous help to our project since the beginning, bringing us out into the spotlight, and also offering us server space for our game.

The first article revolves around the King's Quest 1 VGA remake project, and also includes information on Royal Quest, along with some exclusive screenshots.

The article summarizes our projects very well, and can be found at this link.

The second article is an interview with our team.

Music Contributions

Just after releasing version 1.0 of King's Quest 1 VGA, we noticed that a topic had started up about our game in the QuestStudios forums.

QuestStudios is a fantastic site, which is dedicated to the music of the old Sierra games. The site's owner, Tom Lewandowski, arranges the music files, and his site offers a huge variety of Sierra nostalgia! From MIDI files to digital MP3 recordings which breathe new life into old games' musical scores, QuestStudios has music from almost every Sierra game you can imagine!

Many music enthusiasts visit the QuestStudios forums, and we noticed a particular topic there regarding the music in KQ1VGA. Most people may not be able to tell the difference between a well-done soundtrack and a somewhat rushed soundtrack... but music enthusiasts sure can! Upon reading some of the postings and concerns of people on the site, we decided that it would be important to bring KQ1VGA's music up to the same level as the rest of the game! So we asked Tom Lewandowski if he would be interested in helping us re-do a General MIDI soundtrack for the game.

He agreed, and has been extremely reliable, getting the files back to us MUCH earlier than we had ever expected. In fact, Tom even set a new record for himself! The soundtrack for KQ1VGA is the shortest time it's ever taken him to arrange and complete an entire MIDI soundtrack! Tom is also helping us by recording a digital music pack for KQ1VGA. The quality of his equipment will give the recordings their best possible sound, and make the download well worth it!

There is now a page on QuestStudios, which is dedicated to the music of King's Quest 1 VGA. If you are interested in hearing a sneak peak of how the music pack will sound, then head over to the King's Quest 1 page at QuestStudios.

Now that King's Quest 1 VGA has been released, and we have begun working full-time on Royal Quest, Tom and his wife, Dianne, have started writing the preliminary score for the new game. From what we've heard so far, the results are VERY promising!

We'd like to take the opportunity to thank Tom and his wife very much for all the help they've given us! It's an incredible privilege to work with people who are as equally motivated as we are to release these games. The spirit of all the people who have been willing to help us out, and in most cases even offering their time willingly, is amazing to us!

The Fan Gallery has recently been dedicated, from August to October, to our honorable fan Fribbi from Iceland. Be sure to check out his art devoted to the Royal Quest project.

If anyone has any creative works that they'd like to submit to the fan gallery, we're always accepting submissions. Please email them to us, and use the title "fan gallery submission" in the subject box of your email.

Upcoming Projects

Now that the King's Quest 1 VGA remake and voice pack are finally out of the way, we can dedicate our time to finishing up the Royal Quest game. The dialogues are finished, as well as the backgrounds and most of the animations, so scripting is our major concern right now. We will keep everybody updated on the progress of the Royal Quest game at our website.

In addition to Royal Quest, we are on the verge of announcing our next remake project. Keep an eye out at our official website, as we will have a big surprise for everybody very soon! In addition to remakes, we are seriously considering the option of making original, commercial adventure games on the side! This would allow everyone who enjoys adventure games to experience new puzzles and quests and to explore new lands! Additionally, it would allow the Anonymous Game Developers to keep improving their products and services. If you have any comments or questions regarding upcoming projects or commercial releases, please email us.
