This is the sixth newsletter being sent out by the development team at AGD Interactive. It has literally been years since our last newsletter was distributed, back in the days when we were still operating under the name Tierra Entertainment. Some people may have wondered over the long hiatus if we were dead. Not so. After the voice pack for our critically acclaimed King's Quest II+ remake was released, we found ourselves favoring a low profile until the time our next remake was finished. We are very pleased to announce that this time is now at hand!

To the left, you will find a list of topics to be discussed in this issue.

Quest for Glory II Remake Released!
Quest for Glory II Remake Released

It has certainly taken longer than 1001 nights of very hard work to get this game completed for the many eager fans of the series, but we at AGD Interactive believe that every extra day of work we've put into this remake has been well worth the long wait! Once you start playing the game for yourself, we think you'll understand exactly what we mean! The Quest for Glory II remake is one of the most complex AGS games ever created and after more than seven years in development, we believe we have made a very accurate and polished title which is stable and bug-free as a result of the additional time spent developing it. We have intentionally gone out of our way to make a game that is worthy of bearing the "Quest for Glory" title.

Do you remember replaying past Quest for Glory games for the 6th time over and STILL finding new things, despite the fact that you thought you knew the game inside-out and back-to-front? We have kept this concept in mind constantly over the long development course, and this is exactly the type of game we have developed for you. Both veterans (who can find the Shapeirian moneychanger with their eyes closed) and new players (who perhaps tried the original EGA version briefly, but couldn't get used to the text parser or 16-color palette) will find the Quest for Glory II remake to be an experience worth replaying over and over again, even many years into the future. All the original dialogue, content, and puns are fully intact, yet if you take your time to go exploring and try different things, you just might stumble upon some of the new content we've included! So waste no more time, come and visit our (equally revamped) website at www.AGDInteractive.com and download your FREE copy of the Quest for Glory II remake today. Your Trial by Fire awaits!

A new Quest for Glory II remake board has been created on the AGDI forums. We'd love to hear your comments and feedback. You can find it here: Quest for Glory II forum.

If you enjoy this remake, please let Vivendi Games know that there is a strong fan demand for a new Quest for Glory Collection series to be made available for purchase, similar to the King's Quest and Space Quest Collections they recently released.

Finally, while you're waiting for the game to download, please take a moment to help us publicize the Quest for Glory II remake to the rest of the world! You can help out by visiting the Digg.com article about the remake's release and clicking on the "Digg It" button at the following link: I Digg Quest for Glory II

King's Quest Remakes To Be Tweaked

The two King's Quest remakes that put AGD Interactive on the map will be briefly unavailable for download as they are recompiled with a more recent version of the AGS engine in an attempt to fix some issues that people were having running the games on newer computers and operating systems. While we're at it, we'll also be doing our best to fix any outstanding bugs that various players have found and reported to us over the years since the last releases. We will also be tweaking the games a little to enhance the overall playing experience. We first intend to give the Quest for Glory II remake its well-deserved time in the spotlight, and then we plan to re-release the polished King's Quest remakes for everybody to enjoy again.

Stay tuned!

AGDI's New Website

To coincide with the grand release of the Quest for Glory II remake, we decided that our website (which has remained virtually unchanged over the years) also required a fresh coat of paint. Eriq Chang (www.eriqchangstudio.com) has created an amazing new brand and site design on par with the facelift that Quest for Glory II received. The experience is more dynamic, easier to navigate, and matches the quality you can expect from our new games. In addition to the commercial upgrade, the website will also sport new game development features, giving visitors some insight into what went on behind-the-scenes during the development process! Check it out here: www.AGDInteractive.com (please note that the enhanced experience may require that you upgrade your browser to a modern version such as Firefox 3.0 or IE7.)
Quest for Glory II Abdulla Doo Art Contest

If you haven't taken a peek at the development videos or seen the Official new Quest for Glory II poster artwork, what are you waiting for? We've commissioned a full-scale cinema-style painting in the same style as Sierra/LucasArts titles from the past. And this is your chance to own your very own copy. We have produced an extremely limited run of full size 23"x31" posters available for FREE only through our store by purchasing a collector's edition of our commercial title "Al Emmo & the Lost Dutchman's Mine." This commemorative print was produced at Paragraphics - the production house responsible for promotions from Lucasfilm's "Indiana Jones", Telltale Games "Sam & Max", and Disney/Pixar's line of films. They are the ultimate in collectible quality and craftsmanship. These posters are going fast! To secure your own copy of this historical Quest for Glory II print, be sure to get your copy of our award-winning, wild-western graphic adventure now.

If you'd like to own a special signed copy of the poster, along with a handful of other prizes, you can enter the Quest for Glory II "Abdulla Doo's Amazing Art Contest". Gather your magical pencils and prepare to draw your own interpretation of your favorite scenes from Quest for Glory II. Don't be afraid to go wild with creativity! In fact, your entry need not even be a drawing. You may submit anything you like, as long as it's Quest for Glory II-related and creative. Carvings, clay moldings, clothing costumes, and cakes are all welcome!

Regardless of how creativity strikes you, be sure to photograph or scan your entry and submit it via email via the contest page on the site. Artists who think like heroes will be rewarded handsomely! Remember, the world of Quest for Glory is full of humor AND beauty - creativity is key. All entries will be judged equally. Prizes include pristine copies of Sierra's original "Trial by Fire" games, the "Quest for Glory Anthology", pre-production poster artwork signed by Eriq Chang & the development team, original signed development concept artwork by Christopher Warren, a battle-themed collectible signed by combat system programmer Stijn Van Empel, and much more. If you like to collect game memorabilia such as development concept art and original documents, be sure to submit your entry at the Abdulla Doo Art Contest page today.

How Can I Help Support AGDI?

Over the years, many a fan has asked: "how can I give back to the AGDI team for all the blood, sweat, time, sleep, and tears they've sacrificed to give us free games?"

Sadly, we cannot accept donations or monetary offerings for the large amount of time and effort that goes into producing remakes of classic Sierra adventure games, as we aren't the copyright holders of the intellectual property.

Fortunately, there IS another way!

Buy a copy of our completely original, classic Sierra-style adventure game, "Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine" at Himalaya Studios. By doing such, you will:

1. Receive good karma.
2. Show publishers there's still demand for commercial adventures.
3. Adventure in a new realm after beating Quest for Glory II for the umpteenth time.
4. Acquire an original adventure for your money, rather than just donating and getting nothing.
5. Give the developers some pocket change to buy a well-deserved pizza after nearly a decade of grueling development on the Quest for Glory II remake.

To celebrate the release of the Quest for Glory II remake, we are offering "Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine" at a new low price which even the most impoverished of gamers can afford:

Al Emmo Collector's Edition

Al Emmo Standard Edition

Al Emmo Soundtrack

(Shipping and handling fees also apply.)

Get your copy today from the Himalaya Studios Online Store.

We expect to run out of packaged versions quickly, so stock up while supplies last -- once all of the hard-copy versions of our game are gone, they will be gone FOREVER. So be sure to make "Al Emmo and the Last Dutchman's Mine" part of your classic-style adventure gaming collection today!

Note that after the packaged versions have sold out, a downloadable version of the game will continue be available for sale from the Manifesto Games website.
(There is also a downloadable demo available from there.)

Visit the Official Al Emmo website at: www.AlEmmo.com.
Future Plans

Currently, AGD Interactive has no plans to start any new remake projects, but we still have several loose ends to tie up, which we intend to do over the course of the upcoming months. Be sure to visit our website and forums every once in a while to get an update on the latest developments.
Special Thanks

Firstly, we would like to thank Lori Ann Cole and Corey Cole for creating and writing such a brilliant series of games as Quest for Glory. A series that's so good that it can inspire a bunch of people to sit around doing a remake of it for close to eight years must be a very special game indeed. Please take some time to browse the Coles' website at: www.Transolar.com and investigate their latest projects!

Of particular interest and relevance is their upcoming School for Heroes. You can read more information on their blog, and also see what Lori and Corey had to say about our Quest for Glory II remake.

Check it out and be sure to support their future projects. After all, the Coles are the ones who gave us Quest for Glory in the first place, and anything creative that comes from the depths of their minds is bound to be entertaining!

AGD Interactive would also like to thank the following mighty heroes for their very kind donations of server space. They are the few, the proud, the ones responsible for getting Quest for Glory II from our PC to yours! So, please take some time to check out their websites and personal projects by clicking on their names to visit their links!
