Re: Another question for artists
I can tell you: many hours are spent on a screen like this. Yeah, I wasn't expecting it would be fast or easy :) I have been using the burn and dodge tools to make highlights and shadows and I just discovered something - if I make a two extra layers above the grass and set their blend modes to burn...

Another question for artists
OK, the reason I asked the art questions earlier: I'm a programmer and by no means an artist. I'm always complaining to myself (not out loud or anything) that I would totally make a super sweet adventure game except that I don't have the resources to get the art done and without great art there isn'...

Re: Easter Eggs / Sierra (and other) references in KQ3R
At one point I pissed off Mananan (I think I was in his office unattended) and he made me do a workout routine while listening to the Village People. Made me LOL.

Re: Finished the game, here's questions and comments (spoile
Oh yeah - plot comments. These are NOT complaints - I thought the game was awesome. Just playing devil's advocate a little. 1. Why is Gwydion able to read? The first rule of oppression is not to let your oppressee learn to read. Considering Mananan would have had to teach Gwydion this skill - is he ...

Finished the game, here's questions and comments (spoilers)
Finished it on Friday after restarting a couple times (probably didn't have to, but I just found it easier to restart when things weren't working out). I finished with 200 out of 210 points. So my questions are related to those 10 points I didn't get. I know that there is a way to deal with Medusa w...

Question for the artists
As someone who appreciates the work that must go into creating all the backgrounds, characters, portraits, etc. in an AGDI game (or any game, for that matter) but has no artistic inclination whatsoever, I am super curious: What's your process? What tool(s) do you use for your art? Do you sketch on p...

Got it, thanks. I guess I just gave up too easily and assumed there was a puzzle on how to pick up the cat rather than just trying enough times.

Cat hair
I'm doing pretty well so far, but this one is making me feel stupid. I am ready to vanquish Mananan, but I can't seem to get any hair off of that blasted cat! He just scratches me and gets away without giving up the goods. I tried to make him sleep; it won't let me do that. I tried to become invisib...

Stuck in a conundrum (spoilers)
So, I've realized that in order to get into the bandit tree, I need to use a spell to enlarge the hole in the tree. In order to create the spell, I need to get into the lab. In order to get into the lab, I need to solve the lever puzzle. In order to solve the lever puzzle, I need to get into the lib...

Re: Force Bolt Flurry solver
Hey MK,
I went ahead and implemented your suggestion. Now you click a prism to cycle through available angles, and use Shift+click to fetch a prism to the empty spot.
Or, you can still use the old text-entry UI by selecting "Free-entry UI" in the two radio buttons.

Re: Force Bolt Flurry solver
Wizard Whirl is only available to the magic user class, I think. So I can't even play it until I play as that class (currently a magic using thief). Maybe then I'll make a solver for it :D. But I didn't make this one because I couldn't solve it on my own; I just found it tedious and confusing after ...

Having difficulty defeating the diviner? Are you trounced by the tedium of tracing trajectories? Force Bolt Familiar may be for you! Yeah, I made a little JavaScript program that will do the tracing tasks for you in Force Bolt Flurry. This may help you if you (like me) don't have the patience for ro...

Re: Air elemental difficulty (possible spoilers)
I *was* aiming for the top, but I couldn't get it in there. When I levitated (thief with magic) I was able to drop it in no problem. I remember from the original that as a thief, you just had to throw the dirt at the top of the funnel. Didn't work for me this time. Maybe I just didn't have enough th...

Good hint, thanks! I got it now.
I don't remember this being necessary in the original, is it a new thing in the remake?

Air elemental difficulty (possible spoilers)
Are there really any spoilers about the main plot for the people in this forum? If you never played the original QFG2, I'm not sure whether I envy your opportunity to play the remake for the first time, or pity your deprived childhood :lol Anyway, I'm having trouble as a thief trying to defeat the a...

Yeah, I don't know if it's my cable or what, but my download kept dying partway through the transfer. Re: Too early to start cheating?
Why don't you grab the original Hero's Quest and beat it? Takes about 30 minutes if you already know what to do. And you could razzle dazzle root beer your character to whatever you wish!

QFG file formats
I'm not sure if this is the proper place to ask, but it's the only place I know of where QFG is still being discussed :-) I'm trying to find info on the file formats of the character exports for the QFG series. I'm most interested in QFG IV, but any resource would be helpful. I know the QFG II rem...
