Re: Service Pack 3 for XP
This installed itself recently when I was trying to fix my directx install and the installation procedure went wrong and a bunch of other things did too. It tried to install before shutting down, got hung up... I have no idea what happened, but I needed to system restore.

Confused about save transfer system.
I was under the impression that QfG2 saves could only be transfered in to QfG3, but the trailer for QfG4 I just watched made it sound like it 4, at least, would accept a save from any previous game. What's up here?

Re: Does anyone have the classics?
I have a three-bin tupperwaer container for my old PC game collection. Which is large. Thankfully, collecting old PC games isn't and expensive hobby because, for some reason, most places don't really charge more than two buck for a jewel-case only game from the early nineties. The poor fools. From S...

Re: What was QfG5 like, anyway?
In regards to pre-rendered 3D backdrops, there was also Riven, which came out a year prior to QfG5, and remains really, really good looking even today. Anyway, since you brought up Final Fantasy 8 and 9, were those 3D or handpainted? I thought 8 was pre-rendered 3D, but FFIX looks more like the hand...

Re: What was QfG5 like, anyway?
It was definitely possible to do really good looking pre-rendered 3D backgrounds in those days. I think a mixture of prerendered backdrops and detailed, 2D, hand-drawn sprites could've worked nicely.

Re: What was QfG5 like, anyway?
Yeah, the anthology is also outrageously expensive. I'll probably get it if I can ever find a copy on the cheap. If. Big if. Huge if. Admittedly I could resort to auction sniping but I'm not a jerk. I DID snag a copy of QfG4 on Ebay just in case, as that one's pretty interesting to me (and I think t...

Re: So you want to release a different game
I think there's a certain belief that the more you add to a remake, the harder it is to really integrate that with the original game, and the more stuff that kind of sticks out and doesn't fit in like that, the less professional the project looks as a whole.

Right now I'm listening to a Czech band called swordfishtrombones. Anyway some of my favorite albums: Boards of Canada - Music has the Right to Children Augie March - Strange Bird Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - Human Menagerie Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, are you The Destroyer? Guided by Voices ...

What was QfG5 like, anyway?
Okay, as a newbie to this series, QfG5 seems to be the one that's generally liked the least. I read up about it and looked at some screens, and I guess it's more of a straight-up RPG than an RPG adventure hybrid, but it doesn't sound particularly bad or anything. I guess since I'm getting into the p...

Re: What chance is there for a new Quest for Glory Anthology?
Do Corey and Lori get royalties for the QfG games on Gametap? I'm not entirely sure how that system works, really. Anyway, the Quest for Glory games are oldschool, but 1, 3, and 4 have VGA versions, and while EGA can be off-putting (not that QfG2 looks bad or anything. We're not talking Ultima 4, he...

Re: What chance is there for a new Quest for Glory Anthology?
I wouldn't mind a new collection. I mean, honestly, they don't even have to put the thing in a box. Just throw the thing up on Steam. My only concern is that I'd really like QfG EGA and VGA both included. I love VGA's art but I'm curious how the original played too. Truthfully I don't have a problem...

Re: The most evil Sierra Person
The bad dudes from the Shivers games freaked me out. I'm not sure they're EVIL so much as unsettling though. Also, I'm sure Betrayl at Krondor and Lighthouse have very evil characters in them, if I could just stop sucking at those games enough to GET anywhere.

Re: Do the Coles know about the iminent release of the remake?
Maybe the good press'll finally get sierra to rerelease the original series, like they did with King's, Space, and Police Quest. Not that I'm OPPOSED to buying them all on eBay. It's just that I don't really have the 200 some dollars it would take to do that right now.

http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/quest-for-glory-i-so-you-want-to-be-a-hero/screenshots/gameShotId,95245/ Comparing the Katta in GfQ2 VGA to the ones in the QfG1 remake, no, they're not as realistic, but it's a much clearer visual style, which I TEND to prefer, and no offense intended, but I though...

Re: Games like quest for glory?
Okay. I'm entirely new to Quest for Glory with this remake, here, but it's reminded me of a bunch of things. I never got the chance to finish VtM: Bloodlines (went away to college shortly after getting it; worked fine on family desktop computer; school laptop, however, not so much) but I totally agr...
