System Requirements.
I notice that KQ VGA requires a Pentium processor of 233~ mhz speed. I automatically assumed that this was due to AGS in some respect. Is this the culprit? Old VGA games run just fine on a P120, and I would have expected these graphical overhauls (to .. VGA) to do the same. Shrug.

It is and isn't AGS's fault. The games will actually run fine on a lot of slower machines. The minimum requirements were made like that to make sure that everyone didn't have any problems. Besides, I'd assume it is kind of difficult to find many people with older machines that could play test the games...
Beside's AGS, it is also the scripters. You can script something that causes the game to slow way down. I've done stuff that runs fine on my 2.4 GHz, but when I ran it on my 333 MHz, it was really choppy. That forced me to go back in and streamline the way I was doing things...

AGS was never optimized for speed, users preferred new features instead. Certain things, like large objects, slow the game down. In KQ1VGA, this is most notable near the river. The rippling parts of the water consist of one large "river-shaped" object and the slowdown is noticable on slower machines.

pentium 200 - digital sound pack question
The games performs perfectly on my P200 mhz. Oh, Joy. Just one thing, though. I downloaded the digital sound pack and the option has been automatically toggled on in the setup secreen, but I can't hear music in every scene, only occasionly, like during the intro and when in the caves and when the troll appears. Should there be music playing all the time?
