Frans just took the time to scan them into the computer and put them on his site. In that respect, even though I know it's kinda sh**ty to just claim that you're the one who scanned it all in, Frans has no copywright over the manuals. As a matter of fact, the fact that he posts the manuals at all is a controversy in and of itself.<br><br>Now, if any original fan artwork of his was stolen, THEN I'd see a reason for being pissed. The person responsible for LSL2 is redruM, which for the first time I read the name backwards and got scared.<br><br>I've been converting LSL3 to point n click, For almost exactly a year (well just over), It's coming along slowly as I'm not a full-time adventure creator as it doesn't keep food on the table, but where am I up to? lets just say that pigs might fly, well, as long as you remove your bra and fondle the coconuts.<br><br>I haven't got a site for it but I have recently updated my forum to include it & there is a trailer to download there<br><br><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://members.lycos.co.uk/timosity/php ... <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br><br>~Tim <p></p><i>Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... imosity</A> at: 2/24/04 8:41 am<br></i>

hello timosity,<br><br>I watched your job in the trailer, and i liked very much what i saw. Even with ega screens, larry 3 would have its replayability definately increased with the improved interface.<br>And to add a little salt and pepper, just imagine the possibility of replacing the screens with vga equivalents after you have completed the remake. I am talking for improving the original graphics, retaining the exact outlines of original graphics so that there will be no more<br>tweaking regarding the walkpaths, hotspots definition<br>and so on, on your project. The tree for example will have the same position and shape, but it will be colored in vga.<br>SCI shapes and outlines are realistic enough (comparing to ugly AGI )and they do not need change in their architecture.<br>Of course the character design is a pain, but they could <br>be left as is, in original style. Or in worst case from matter of labor, they could use some additional colors.<br><br>Even with this, i think the whole game would be transformed to something beautiful, with less exertion.<br>And i am telling all this because you have already done <br>the most boring time consuming and stressing part(call me testing) of the game IN MY OPINION.<br>what do you think ?<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br> <br><br> <p></p><i></i>
touch ups
I have thought about touching up the graphics, but I'll see what happens after I finish it first.<br><br>Maybe I'll get someone else to help.<br><br>It would still be a big job as there are around 80 or so backgrounds to touch up & if you went as far to do the characters & animations you're looking at over 4000 sprites maybe even 5000.<br><br>It's a possibility later on, but I'd probably want to have totally new backgrounds & characters. <p></p><i></i>

Re: Sierra Fan-Remakes
yeah maybe along the lines a good background artist will see your completed game and they'll ovffer to touch them up for you <p></p><i></i>
Re: Update?
if you find 2 artists with similar style, and put let them draw<br>2-3 screens per day, then you are gonna have your 80<br>rooms in 14-20 days. Not bad i say.And it would be an easy task because they just draw over the old graphics. They do not reinvent the wheel.<br><br>The sprites require more work as you say. However i would say that the required work is not equivalent to 4000 sprites.<br>For example you add a few colors to frame 1 of larry's side walk and that is all. the next 6-7 frames are the same<br>except for a slight movement of leg and arm which is already<br>drawn. So instead of creating 28 frames from scratch for one character, you just touch up approximately 4 frames for each character! Of course it is STILL much work.Personally i would not bother having the original sci frames. They are not that bad. The big difference is made by the vga background.<br><br>But what am i saying?Even ega version with the updated <br>interface ROCKS!<br><br> <p></p><i></i>
Some updates:
- Police Quest II VGA BURNINATED (Er... I mean cancelled - I think I played too much Peasant's Quest
)
- LSL 2 VGA - Finished, but it's not a VGA remake. Just point & click.
- The Colonel's Bequest - Jodo Kast - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/laurabowi ... vereporter
- King's Quest 3+ AGI - Radiant - http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=15622.0
- King's Quest 2.5 - Radiant - http://crystalshard.binary-people.com/KQ.html
- Conquest of the Druid (Sequel of Conquest of the Longbow) - Sierrafan - http://www.relax.at.tt/
Btw.: The link of "Laura Bow III - The Eye Of The Beholder" doesn't work.
PS.: I think it would be cool to have some kind of webring or news site about all the adventure fangames. Just a place where you get all the latest news from the scene.

Anthenors
Once upon a time there was such a website. It was mostly focusing on qfg and ultima remakes though. The old website can be found here http://anthenor.envy.nu/
Lucasfan you're german aren't you? There are tons of amateur games in german, but i really cant get a good overview, nor do i understand why they are all doing it in german alone and not in english.

Well, meanwhile every second German does have an own fangame project. Don't worry about it. It's just a trend here and most of them won't see a release date anyway.PValiant wrote:Lucasfan you're german aren't you? There are tons of amateur games in german, but i really cant get a good overview
I think most Germans don't speak English very well. It's already difficult enough to learn German!PValiant wrote:nor do i understand why they are all doing it in german alone and not in english.

Furthermore it's not really necessary. Most German fanprojects are about LucasArts games and the most LucasArts-Fans ARE Germans. Just look at the counter of our website.

Take a look into his message board! He knows how to get all the chicks!Blackthorne519 wrote:Haha. A Jodo Kast link...... wheeeeeeeee!

Well, thank you Swift. I've already been around here, it's quite crowded compared to the averange amateur project board.
And lucasfan, i know most of these projects will never see the release datum, but thats exactly whats been bothering me. Why are all those germans spending their time and efforts on something completely fruitless. I must say i'm quite amazed by the two games you have succesfully released. What is your ultimate secret :-P

For addition to the list: KQ8: A switch in time saves nine (Mask of Eternity remake) No site yet, maker: Eternal Saga/Hollister Man
Also, I was gonna mention that Al Lowe actually hosts several of his old Sierra sold games on his website, such as Donal Duck's Playground and Softporn. I must say, if that's not Sierra giving up on their copyrights and intellectual property, I don't know what is. There's also talk that Abandonia.com has PERMISSION to host copies of the KQ and SQ series.
Gotta go,

To the best of my knowledge (from Home of the Underdogs), the copyright of Sierra's titles on the Amiga has indeed been abandoned. Then again I haven't seen any Amigae around lately either, so this point may be rather moot.
There is also a site that I won't name here that claims to have Sierra's permission to distribute their PC games, but this (again ttbomk from HOTU) is a lie.
