Help! I can't find the slingshot - it is all that stands between me and full score

It's inside of a tree in cloudland.

Take a look at the trees around Cloudland and see which one has a hole between the roots.

i suffered this problem too. Do you have to get it before the giant falls asleep or after?

It's an alternative way to get the chest, so if you tire the giant out, the only reason to get the slingshot is to get full points.

Look for the slingshot in the south of the mountain-entrance. But be carful, you could fall through the clouds
