Nice job Khaveen and JLM5!   JLM5 is doing a pretty good job at unifying the look of backgrounds.

Now I think I'm transformed all the Moonlit's pictures to Sierra-style. This was the last one. Still I don't like the background-"forest" in the picture. So it still needs to be improved...

Just lower its saturation a bit and it will look super! I does already, btw. Nice work!

If one was to blend JLM's background trees and Moonlit's a low opacity against the background, I think it'd look awesome.  JLM, you ARE doing a great job unifying these pictures!!

And here is the next picture: The west edge of the swamp. Again, I used Moonlit's background and my old paintover of it.

Please, all of you, post here more paintovers and new backgrounds. I don't want be the only one who still makes art to SQ2VGA... ;)

JLM

You've been doing wonderful....

I'm sorry I haven't contributed in a while - I've just been busy.  I hope people still check this thread, there is a lot of great work here.

Nice stuff but one comment JLM5, without the blue part of the last background you posted, it loses a lot of the feel of the original SQ2 screen. It doesn't have to be exactly the same but if you can still include those colours and layout elements, I think it would feel more like the original.

I hope you were sure to have those mushrooms in separate layers because they are animated.

I'm sure he took that into account. All you'd have to do is cut them out and make sprites and paint grass where they used to be. Maybe he was just showing what they would look like.

Great job, guys! This is truly amazing work!

Yes, it is such an easy job to animate the mushrooms...

By the way, how many pictures there are left? Does we have remade currently more than half of all the pictures of SQ2? I hope someone else than me could remake at least the pictues of waterfall cave. I'm not very good in the drawing of water.

Did you mean something like this?

If someone thinks there is still something to be improved, he is free to make a new paintover... :rolleyes

If you want more screens, get AGI STUDIO and grab screens directly from SQ2's source.

If someone needs more backgrounds from original SQ2, here is a link where he can download any of them:
http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Reviews/ ... rough.html

I made still one version of the "vinetrap maze" -background. I think we can decide now, whether we choose the old paintover (upper) or my new version (lower) for the final game.

How is the player going to get through that with point and click? Maybe we could have a little extra puzzle here. Just my thoughts.

Right now, there really isn't any game-making here.  You're just having fun with VGAifying screenshots.  That's fine.  However, if you do ever start seriously with the game-making, you should make your own forum for its discussion instead of using AGDI's.  Thanks.
Which is my point, exactly - and what I've been trying to iterate in this thread.   This is about VGAifying screens.  If this AMASSES enough to warrent a remake - IN THE FUTURE - then steps may be taken to make the game.  For now, we're just on a mission to VGA-ify screens from SQ2.

Just thought I'd remind people of what the ideo behind this thread is. It's not about making a remake...

Great work on unifying the different styles JLM. I especially like the tree top in the last pic.

Lookie: I like the new vines, they have much more depth.

Jaywar: but also remember the following quote
and then maybe someday a remake could be finished
So I think the pictures should be easy for someone else to create a remake (though sometimes it is difficult to see what might pose a problem).

Just my two cents

That pointless and annoying scene should be cut I think. If I remember correctly, it didn't amount to anything.

Probably the root maze scene. It is needed, you have to get the berries that are on the other side of the roots in order to... well, you know. It would be cool to re-imagine that scene with a big slimy thing in the center and these are all the tentacles, and it has all these eyes that close and open, and watch you as you move through the maze. Then when you seem to get a certain way through, the nasty beast could move all the tentacles and make you start again!

deltamatrix has a point.  Those deadly walking puzzles really don't add anything to the game.  Especially since they end up just being a matter of saving after every step.  At the very least, there should be an alternate solution that let you avoid the puzzle.
