The problem is that the colours are still EGA. And lighting is messed up.
Vary the colour palette some more.

After many hours of experimenting, I finally made a Sierra-style campfire scene.
I couldn't figure out how to do the wooden cage, so I just didn't draw it in.

Tadaa!

The perspective is out of all rules and the grass is too plain. Draw some shadows/highlights to light the scene properly. But I like the VGAish colours you used, it looks great and much better than your first attempt!

Do you want I fix and unify it, like I did for almost all of the Moonlit's backgrounds?

Here is my paint-over. I'm still working on the door.
Please tell me what before I continue with the other two backgrounds left and right of this one. Because they have to match this one.

It's a really good background! Much better than the paintover I made.
But don't forget to draw the ship and the door, they are essential parts of the picture.

Thanks
I did not paint the door and the ship because they are moving objects.
I'm working on the door but I was not happy with the result of my first attempt.

If you didn't noticed. Most of all Sierra vga remakes has put many new things in the backgrounds pictures and let them look more different than the original was. BTW all of those background pictures you have displayed here looks really good but I think you need to spice it more with more objects or with something else .
Try to make it more different from the original. Thats is my own opinion on this. But I suggest you should play SQ1 EGA and SQ1VGA to understand me better and try to see what is different from the original. Try to understand and see what was added on the backgrounds.
Both KQ games had a new object and looked much different from the original game. I mean I don't think many people like to see only a copied and pasted background with more color added on. It needs to have something more than that ok.

I'm impressed. A very cool SQ1VGA-like choice of colours and the lighting is just perfect. Thumbs up!

I LOVE THEM. I'd like to see more realistic lighting inside the lifts though.
I think you should remake all the Vohaul base inside, and I'll try and make some outside screens (since I've made the asteroid pic)

Cool. It's nice to see an overview like that. It'd be neat if any potentially scrollable screens would line up and be scrollable.

Nice job Loeky! Love your work!! :D
Edit: Hmmm... I suspect this screen was supposed to be the 'watch' with his arm (the white area):
But it doesn't really matter.

Just the watch looks great.

Great topic. Thanks to Corby for a super tutorial.
This is the "pink creature" screen.
