Actually, isn't it a GOOD thing that he's getting his own game? Pretty much all Nintendo games allows your character to die, so...
Heh-heh-heh...good point, Pidgeot, but wouldn't it defeat the purpose of buying a game just to let the player-character die (in other words, deliberately lose)?
Anyways, he's right about Famitsu; only 5 games in the magazine's history have ever been given a perfect 40 (10/10 from four separate reviewers). The first was Ocarina of Time (late 1998), then Soul Calibur (mid-1999) , followed by Vagrant Story (early 2000), and finally The Wind Waker (late 2002). The recent DS title is the fifth, and it is...
...sorry, you'll have to wait.

Hardly. Keep in mind how many people hate him - it's guaranteed to become a massive hit JUST because of that... heck, it just might become the fastest selling game of all time! :P

Aaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!! Don't even say something like that!! If that game sells that fast, that could possibly encourage the creators to make a sequel! I really hope there is some sarcasm in there.

Well... I'd have to hazard a guess at either Nintendogs or Advance Wars@ Duel Strike.
Cant put GTA: LCS down though!!

You guess right, Angelus; it's Nintendogs.
Vagrant Story vs. Nintendogs...not exactly a normal matchup.

Nintendogs? I was thinking AW DS or Lost In The Blue. I bought both recently and they look like tehy would be much much better.

Vagrant Story was excellant, I loved the combo system and the graphics were very good for PS1. If I recall correctly the graphics were very similar to those found in FFIX, although I sure VS came out before FFIX.
Didnt get very far into it though, I'll have to go back to it one day. a PS1 emu for PSP would sort that out no problem lol

Vagrant Story Came out in late 1999
Final Fantasy IX Came out in 2000
If I recall correctly that is. I still wonder what Lost in the Blue got. It's the best DS game I've played by far.
Edit: According to gamespot Final Fantasy X and VII are better than Nintendogs and Lost in the Blue had a measely 7.2. and was compared to Survivor and Harvest Moon. Personally I liked LiB more than both of those by a long shot but to each his own. I geuss that's why I don't look at Gamespotvery often.

Lost in Blue received the scores 8/8/7/8, giving a total of 31/40.
Advance Wars DS received 9/9/8/8, total of 34/40.
There's a reason why only 5 titles have ever been given a perfect score.

Can't even get 15% of the health down. Either I'm doing something wrong or perhaps I'm just too slow. hehe Hopefully it's not the latter.
I think you meant to adress me, cause I was the only one talking about MP2. It's kind of a hard game, at least when you're not trained to think in a Metroid kind of way. The story is somewhat lineair, cause your suit analyses the environment and gives you hints from time to time on where to go. The real challenge lies in the searching of expansions of your missiles, power bombs, dark / light beam ammo and energy tanks. And, of course, the scanning of every damned molecule on Aeher. This takes long, lonely nights, scraping every corner. I think with 99% of the items and 96% of the scans, I'm at the last save station.

What madness is this Nintendogs? It seems the DS sold five times more than usual on Japanese soil in the week Nintendogs was released. Sounds like a weird game I would never play. Ah, Famitsu probably knows what they are doing.

You are absolutely correct on that one, I must have scrolled to quickly when I was reading through, sorry about that. As for Metroid Prime 2, I bought that the day it was released and got to the end of the game by the next day with about 96% of the items. My main problem is the very end boss. I have tried over and over again to defeat it and just can't seem to get anywhere. I have even looked at a strategy for the final battle and tried following that to no avail either. So I don't know how to go about it now....

Yea I agree it is weird, Nintendogs I'm sure is great but its not really a game is it? Its more like one of those Tamagotchi things. I think the only thing close to that which is simulation and is a game is The Sims.
Some great releases so far this month:
Of course we have GTA: LCS we also have
Matrix: Path of Neo
Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 (Come on Broomie how are you going to avoid an online match this year!!)
GUN
Hmm think thats it for now...
btw has anyone played Shadow of the Collosus? Its amazing!! Its the closest thing I've seen to a pure adventure game on a console, its basically about a boy who rides around on his horse and the whole game consists of travelling to the next boss (the collosi) and killing it. Thats the whole game there are no normal enemies just 13 or so Collosi to defeat and the journey to each of them. I'm lovin it so far its amazing!

Yes I have and yes it is quite an amazing! At the moment I am borrowing it from a friend, but will definately buy it myself when I have some cash in my pockets. The only thing is I've already beaten the game, no big deal though, this game has some replay abiliity if you ask me.
Angelus3K wrote:just 13 or so Collosi to defeat
Actually it is 16 Collosi to defeat. Just wait until to finish the game and start a new one. If and when you start a 2nd quest on the same save file, you may want to know there is a time attack mode available and all you will have to do is kneel in front of the statues of the Collosus. For every 2 defeated in time attack you will receive an item. Enjoy the game Angelus, I sure as hell am!!
P.S. Try grabbing hawks should they fly overhead while on horseback, can be rather difficult.

Well, I'm trying to defeat the mutated emperor Ing right now....but I'm always out of ammo. It's very hard to do. I'll let you know if I ever make any progress.
EDIT: DAMN! I was soooooo close. After the Emperor Ing is defeated, you have to beat two versions of Dark Samus in like 7 minutes. That's insane. I was almost there. She was almost dead. One last shot would have done the trick. But time was up. "Continue from last save? Yes / No." :cry

EDIT2: oh, lucky me, it seems to count defeating the emperor Ing as a save point.
FINISHED IT!!! ;)

Got Guilty Gear X2 #Reload, Guilty Gear Isuka, King Of Fighters 2002 and Sonic Gems Collection (includes Sonic CD, Sonic R, Sonic The Fighters and much more) for the PS2 a while ago, but I've been fairly busy (work is consuming a lot of my spare time at the moment), so I've mainly been playing GGX2 here and there.
Still waiting for GTA: LCS to come out here (was supposed to be out a while ago, but now there's been a delay and it's supposedly the 1st of December that'll be the approximate release date), so I can get a PSP. Probably better that way, so I can keep my spendings in check, but still...

A really good adventure game you guys should check out is Fahrenheit. Its kinda like a murder mystery game and the great thing about the game is not only its intuitive controls but you play both sides of the story, Lucas Kane has comitted a crime but he doesnt know why he has done it! Then you take control of the detective in charge of the murder case Carla and her partner Tyler.
The graphics, story, voicework, art, direction and gameplay are all excellant. The only drawback is that there a bit too many action sequences.
If there is a demo available then I'd highly recommend you give it a try.

The game is also known as
Indigo Prophecy over here in the states. Wasn't sure if you knew that or not, but I figured I'd just throw it up there.

Believe me, I'm definitely looking into that game, but I think I may import Farenheit rather than play Indigo Prophecy; some of the "decency edits" they had to do in the US were pretty pathetic (i.e. a skirt in the shower).
Speaking of adventure games, I think I never got around to asking this here - did anyone else notice the ripping off of Isaac Asimov's works in Runaway?

I searched on Gamespot for Runaway, and the only adventure title for Runaway that came up was
Runaway: A Road Adventure. That's as near as I can figure he's talking about. Unless there is another adventure game titled Runaway, then I'm unsure.

Oh right I thought he meant Isaac's work was in Runaway by him or something, not that something IN Runaway was ripping off his work.
So, like what Brainiac? I never did finish Runaway, I got bored.

Yeah, TG's right; there are several "ripoffs" in Runaway: A Road Adventure. Firstly, there's the restoration specialist Dr. Susan Olivaw. Anyone who's read any quantity of Asimov's works is likely familiar with two of his more famous characters, Dr. Susan Calvin and R. Daneel Olivaw.
Granted, that could be coincidence, but when you also add in the events in Chapter Four of the game, it doesn't float. Two references is a tribute; three's a ripoff. A character in Chapter 4, Joshua, claims he is in contact telepathically with an alien world. This world is called Trantor. For those unfamiliar with Asimov's works, Trantor was the capital world of the First Galactic Imperium (from the Empire and Foundation novels).
In summation...name rip-off!
