Animal gate and Meta-Easter Egg
First, about the QFGIIVGA Reference... and the explanation of that odd thing we saw in the waterfall in the lost city...
Most amazing Easter egg ever, when you think of the concept. A meta-Easter egg. You just won this side of the internet.
Only annoying part is the "animal names" bit, and which tiles to use.
And yes, I know to read the back of the treasure map. 5 places, 7 animal tiles.
Anyone know how one is supposed to know the order?

Re: Animal gate and Meta-Easter Egg
Here's a hint: Whose gate is it?

To what are you referring? When you try to talk to it?Aristocles wrote:First, about the QFGIIVGA Reference... and the explanation of that odd thing we saw in the waterfall in the lost city...

The fall down another game's waterfall, which included an unknown character. Unknown until now.
Making a joke in QFG2VGA and then waiting until now to explain it = pure win.

Oh yes, I saw that. I thought maybe you were referring to the other (or perhaps another) QFG2 reference. It's hilarious if you try to talk to it!

Which one? The Griffin is only in the sky, and the jackalmen and the saurus are in the extreme distance.
Re: Animal gate and Meta-Easter Egg
He hangs out around waterfalls.

Yeah, there's quite a few QFG eggs in there, though the Forbidden City one is definitely my favourite. (even has 4 separate hilarious death messages) Seran's gate is actually a time warp device, so that time you stumbled upon Alex in QFG2VGA in the past was caused by the future you sending him there. (that does mess with your mind or what?)

Originally we were going to have different "game over" locations you could warp to by spelling out different words with the tiles. Kind of like the Door of Destiny in KQ2VGA. Would have been cool, but the extra work involved caused us to abandon the idea.
