KQVGA 2.0 won't run under DOS 6.22 and Acdos

I can't believe that people still run in DOS 6.22. I decided to build a Pentium machine with MS DOS installed so I could run all the old games. <br><br>As "DosBox" is still in a basic stange and consumes a lot of CPU power, the only way to run the old games with no problems is under MS-DOS.<br><br>Plus I have a Roland sound card that only supports the games under MSDOS...<br><br>KQVGA is meant to run under DOS as they say there is a DOS version but I have problems. <br><br>I was hoping that someone else would have tried it under DOS and given me some pointers...<br><br>ALAS no...<br><br><br><br> <p></p><i></i>

I don't think KQ1VGA was ever designed to specifically run under DOS.<br><br>I'm afraid I don't know how to solve the problem. Perhaps temporarily move the 1.vf1 and 2.vf2 out of the directory. The new AGS 2.6 RC3a supports 32-bit colours with alpha-blended sprites, and DOS interpreter works with such games. Like I said, I didn't know for sure. It *should* work, but it's been so long since I've tested the AGS DOS engine I can't guarantee it.<br><br>Does it just hang as soon as you type the "acdos kqvga.exe" line, without printing any text at all?<br><br>If so, try removing himem.sys/emm386.exe from the config.sys file and restarting. Download a copy of cwsdpmi.exe from here:<br><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://clio.rice.edu/cwsdpmi/csdpmi5b.z ... <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br>and placing it in the game directory.<br><br>I can't really think of anything else to suggest at this stage I'm afraid.<br> <p></p><i></i>
