Combat Saurus ROCKS!

Now I am wayyy too curious - and can't figure it out.Anonymous Game Creator 2 wrote:There's something else you can do with the game box under the right conditions (which are pretty uncommon and will probably never occur to veteran players), although I think it might be quite a while before anyone accidentally stumbles upon this. It's something that kind of breaks the "4th wall". That's likely not the best term for it, but I can't think of a better one to describe it.

oh well - more trial and error ahead of me. I've played qgII since i was 10, so i am expecting something totally counter intuitive . . .
Re: Easter Eggs
Go through the WIT portal and select the Dark One as your sponsor. When they ask you 'are you sure', pick yes. You'll get sent to Mordavia (QFG4)! It's a death screen, of course.

Re: Easter Eggs
That is just AWESOME. "Now you know why Quest for Glory III didn't take place here." I'm loving it. And you even got the animations of the dead hands going...Dervish wrote:Go through the WIT portal and select the Dark One as your sponsor. When they ask you 'are you sure', pick yes. Re: Easter Eggs
I found R2D2 at the intersection of Sharki Darb and Tarik of Stars. Heh.
Re: Easter Eggs
Not sure whether this counts as a easter egg or not, but looking at the Hero's full face portrait is kind of a treat. Is this a self portrait of AGD2? lolz
If i remember correctly, the only other time we get to see the full facial portrait of the Hero is at the endgame of QFG1 where he stands smugly with that medal.

Re: Easter Eggs
Despite my custom title to the left, it's not me! AGD1 based him off a mixture of the QFG5 hero's portrait and Robert Redford.
Several of the dialogue pictures are actually based on celebrities. Since there wasn't much of a reference to go on with the pixelated EGA graphics of the original for how the remake's characters portraits should look, we often just picked an actor or someone well-known who we thought they would roughly resemble and based the appearance on that person.

Re: Easter Eggs
that's interesting because I always thought that the hero was supposed to resemble The Greatest American Hero... i.e. Ralph Hinkley (or Hanley)... i.e. William Katt (the actor). Particularly in QFG1 (the EGA version). At other times (like some of the original QFG2 cutscenes/closeups) the hero himself seems (to me at least) to kinda resemble Harpo Marx....Anonymous Game Creator 2 wrote:Despite my custom title to the left, it's not me! what do you guys think?
Re: Easter Eggs
Hmmm.. i thought the Hero would look more like Heath Ledger in the movie: "A Knight's Tale"

Re: Easter Eggs
The "talk to Simba" easter egg was in the original too, but there it didn't have the cool portrait of the Hero.

Re: Easter Eggs
Did anyone notice the amusing change upon looking at Merlin's WIT portrait? It certainly made me laugh.
Though my favorite recent look for the (arguably) most famous of wizards is this:

Re: Easter Eggs
Any clue on the how or when to buy items?Morningstar wrote:Items for purchase that can decorate your room
Bumper sticker - Sloree
Decorative Pot - Toshur
Potted Plant - Lasham
Weaving - Saba
Dried Flower Art - Lisha
Carpet - Tiram
Brass Jug/Big Brass Vase - Tashtari (I think you can only get one of these, but not both)
Fan - Keapon Laffin (you must defeat him twice in Force Bolt Flurry)
Sand Dome & Saurus Foot Trash Can - Ali Chica's (you must purchase them before Day 5)
For a Wizard I was playing, I was able to get Decorative Pot, Potted Plant, Carpet, Fan and Trash Can.
Playing through as a Fighter, I've been able to get Carpet, Sand Dome and Trash Can.
I'm not really sure when or how to get items other than just random.
I'm hoping there is more to it than just random, because my luck sucks.

A visual of Artoo on the Tarik of Stars:

EDIT: Try talking to the bow in the Guild Hall. Another cool Sierra ref.

<snort> FFFF in hex. What a shock.
Re: Easter Eggs
Ok I just found something completely random. I'm running through the streets at night and I'm about to turn right on an intersection when a brigand runs out of nowhere and attacks me IN THE CITY! And then when I beat him he jut runs away wtf!?

In game cheats or Debug codes are in themselves pushing the line.phathom wrote:Just for fun. This isn't shopped. I just worked around the system a bit
I may be willing to cross than line, but at least I know the line is there.
Hexing the character goes beyond a line I'm willing to cross.
It may seem weird, but I'd have no problem using "Suck blue Frogs" to raise skills to 200, but I'm not willing to Hex the save game file for the same result.
Re: Easter Eggs
And I'm not willing to look into issues reported by people who messed around with their game files.

Re: Easter Eggs
What is Combat Saurus?
And I found the Saurus Repair Shop. Wonder if there is anything to do there aside from annoy the guy.

Peteman: Try exploring the desert when you're in Raseir, and you'll learn what a combat saurus is. (It is awesome, that's what it is.)
Hypnos: Good catch! I didn't notice...
Morningstar: I think you can get a signed QFG2 Game Box from Scoree, too.
linkin182: That's arguably something between a 'new feature' and an 'easter egg.' There are clues leading to these encounters, and if you find all four, you get a special bonus.
