Well, if this doesn't confirm the release of the collections, I don't know what does. And they're on Vivendi's own site, too! I particularly like the box artwork for the SQ Collection the best. The PQ collection is the same as the "4 Most Wanted" collection but all of the boxes have a nice big "Works with Windows XP" statement on them.

Space Quest:

King's Quest:

Leisure Suit Larry:

Police Quest:

The Larry collection seems to only have 5 games, though. And there is no QFG collection at all.

Strange. The KQ Collection also lacks a game, but I imagine that it's MoE that was left out, which I can sort of understand.

Dammit, Vivendi, now you've got me wondering which game was left out of the LSL collection - even though I won't buy it, since I already have all the games :P

Maybe but it the box cover shows what looks like Conor on the cover. It's great that we finally see a shed of light on this, I'll be getting a few copies.

I dont think thats Connor. I think its Graham from KQ1 since he was a knight of Daventry and he had to kill a dragon to get the magic Mirror. and I dont remember there being a dragon in MOE.

If these collections sell well then maybe Vivendi might release the QFG collection and maybe both Phantasmogorias and the all 3 gabriel knight games.

Also I have a question thats been buging me. Will the new kq collection have the "girl in the tower" song at the end of Kq6 or are we going to be stuck with out it again like we were if we bought the KQC2 in 1997 that didnt have it?

My bet is that the KQ Collection will have the actual song, like the CD version of the game. Also, what game is not included in the KQW collection? MOE?

Actually, the KQC does have it. It wouldn't play(just gave an error message)on a Virtual PC running Win95 and a Powerbook running Win98, but it DID play in WinXP, running through VDMsound.

I have only played the Windows version.

Well there isnt a specific date at this time. It could from the beginning of fall which is around Sept 23rd or so to the end of fall which is December 20th. It could be 3weeks it could be 3 months. as far it being avalible in Canada its a good possiblity that the collections will be avaible all over the country.

that makes me want the fan projects to go faster! I know I'll be buying a few of these maybe even all 4 but I'd want the fan remakes to be done to. Lets take a moment shall we to go through the series.

Kings Quest

Kings Quest I = VGA+voices by AGDI

Kings Quest II = VGA+story+voices by AGDI

Kings Quest III = VGA+voices by IA

Kings Quest IV = in the works by Magic Mirror Games

Kings Quest V-VII are in VGA with voices upon initial release.

Kings Quest VIII is a steamy pile and my copy is still in the box so I'm glad it's not in this collection

Space Quest

Space Quest I = Redone in full VGA by Sierra

Space Quest II = In the works from Infamous Adventures.

Space Quest III = In production by an unknown group using the SCI engine that SQV used.

IV V and VI are all in atleast VGA upon inital release

Leisure Suit Larry

Leisure Suit Larry I was VGAd by the creators

Leisure Suit Larry II is still in EGA and hasn't been redone

Leisure Suit Larry III is still in EGA and hasn't been redone

Leisure Suit Larry V and VI were in VGA and VII is in 3d yet not included in the compilation.

Police Quest

Police Quest I is remade by Sieera

Police Quest II is still in EGA I believe but I remember hearing something abouta remake in the works. whether it was finished or disbanded I can't be sure.

III and IV were in VGA and IV is a game that remains in my mind as a very memorable piece of my gaming childhood.

If anyone has information or sees mine is wrong please let me know by PM or Email and I'll edit this.

The thing that needs to be done to sq5 that I would like to be done is with voices. The thing that Sierra was going to do but didnt do it. Well there is another SQIII vga project in the works which was posted on the IA fourms by Alliance whos a member here. and they are using the same SCI engine as SQ5.

SQ1 was VGA-ified by Sierra, and SQ5 never had voices, unfortunately.

Cool. Nice to get some recognition.
However, just to clear things up: We're using AGS with a SQ5 style.
EDIT: Where can I find this other project?

King's Quest 5 was the first game in the series to use VGA graphics.
Quest For Glory 1 (Remake) was the first to have VGA graphics, released just before Wages of War (3) which was only made in VGA.

I have a doubt.

Who do yo think is Vivendi aiming as potential buyers for this new collections? Because if it is for old gamers, the ones who used to play these games back in the 90s, I'm not sure it will work. I already have ALL of those games, and I certainly wouldn't buy them again just for compatibility (DOSBOX is still free, right?).

But if they are aiming for a new generation of gamers, then I applaud the release but it would need to be supported with a strong ad campaign, which it hasn't, yet. So what do you think?

I have all the quest series games and even 2 copies of KQ collection but I would still buy these re-releases as I'm a collector/horder lol

There are some people on adventure game forums (a few posted about it in IA) who have yet to find or play all of the KQ, SQ, QFG, etc. games. Many have only played KQ5 or 6 or SQ4 or 6 or something to that degree. Many have complained for years that they have to pay upwards of $150 on eBay for an old scratched copy without the manuals or pirate incomplete versions off of abandonware sites. Since there's been a small internet resurgence of adventure games (we were on G4 briefly, after all), now probably seems like a semi-profitable time to rerelease these "throwback" adventures. I doubt they'll get much coverage as no throwbacks really ever do, but I'm sure they'll be in stores and such and people will buy them. I know I will.

Personally, I see no problem with downloading the games, and I could care less about buying off of Ebay. The only reason that I'd buy these is because I can't be bothered to run the games with DosBox. Plus I like the box art.

ok i have quite a few things to say for one i downloaded doom a long time ago from an abandonware site of which only had less than half of the game and no music i guess it used dosbox was the reason but im not sure but i finally got the doom collection and found out i was missin alot and havnt bothered with abandonware since and even though they are console games some of the biggest hits on some systems are the sonic collections and mega man collections so i wouldnt see why the quest collections would have trouble selling unless they are available online only but im sure they will be in stores at least i hope
