I've got the following items:

sword
fishing net
fence picket
mallet
library card (signed)
feather
earrings
yellow flower
brooch
candle
mermaid's pendant
cloth (from the bottle found in the shipwreck)
Birth Gem (the blue one)
needle

Angelina has asked me to retrieve her nightingale from the witch's cave. I've rotated the right skull, and now it's shooting a blue beam at the bat symbol.
However, I have no idea what to do with the left skull. I've tried inserting the Birth Gem, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
I also noticed that the brooch has a large blue gem, but I can't get it out.

You're on the right track.

You are on the right track using the Birth Gem. You just need a small tap in the right direction... or, perhaps, the gem does.

As the resident handyman of my house, I have a short idiom that would apply here:

If it doesn't fit, make it fit.

I'm inside the cave~ I saved it so I have the key and I'm standing next to the cloak~ I unlock the cage and hagatha's already seen me~ I have the game on fast~ could that be the problem or do I have to do something else first???

I'm not sure if the speed of the game affects the timing of the puzzles, but you might try slowing it down if you think it will help.

But, does Hagatha see you after you complete a certain action? Specifically, picking up the cage is a puzzle, too. You can't just pick it up, or the bird will cry out. You have to find some way to keep the bird quiet.

Or is it....................................................

If Hagatha ended the chant, then you need to do it faster.
The Knight
<img src="

I believe game speed has effect on the timers. But since Graham will also move slower, you're not gaining an advantage by changing the speed setting.

<img src="

Oh, yeah. I hadn't thought of that. If Graham moves slower, you would need more time to complete the task. So that would make sense.

yes that................................................

Yes, that whould have to also be changed or it whould hinder not help with that part of the game.
The Knight
<img src="
