KQ1 Music Pack troubles.

I'm having trouble with the digital music pack. Now, there should be music on the death screen, right? If not, tell me were there is music so I can stop going insane.

Now, anyway, I've got the use digital music checkbox enabled. Now, under the MIDI music device drop down box, if I choose anything besides "No music", I get a MIDI intializing fail error and no sound (except in the logo.) If I select no music, I simply get no music... just sound. I've tried installing the latest directX, launching the game every possible way, to no avail. Any help?

Sorry I have to ask the stupid questions

I assume you downloaded the music pack and then put it into your game directory, and then executed it in order to install it, right?

Did you download v3.0 of the game as well as the latest version of the music pack?

The newest music pack uses Ogg vorbis files, but the old music packs used MP3s. If you try to play an older version of the game (prior to 3.0) with the latest music pack, then it won't work.

Yes, I downloaded 3.0.

(Heh, "Is your computer turned on?" "Is your speaker turned on?" No offense. :) )

Same problem with Music Pack as Yoshi - I think

I am new to ADGI having found it this past week through a forum thread on MystCommunity. I immediatly downloaded KQ1 - Ver. 3 and began playing it. I liked it and decided to try the voice and music packs. Since I didn't know if .ogg files would work on my set-up I just downloaded the voice pack as a test - it worked beautifully! So I downloaded and installed the music pack - and this is where the question comes - how do I know if it is even working? - as all the screens I've walked through so far are exactly like they were (sound wise) before I installed the music pack!

I am probably expecting to much - I am used to having music constantly in the background ala Myst. it would be nice to know where the music pack music is supposed to play (perhaps a few spots early in the game) so that I could run a test and see if I am acutally experiencing a technical glitch.

Thanks for any help - and thank you ADGI for bringing back memories to this 55+ old lady that she thought were gone forever.

Well, I managed to fix my MIDI driver for my other games, then I realized I should try it here. Sure enough, everything's fine now, I get my digital music.

Pressing CTRL-V during the game will pop up a text box, and down the bottom, it will say:

SPEECH.VOX enabled
MUSIC.VOX enabled

...if either/both of the sound packs are installed and being detected by the game.

I have the same problem as Kero. I installed the Digital Music Pack after I'd already been playing the game for a while, but I can detect no difference to the sound then before. Also, the music only plays occasionally, not in every scene. I d/l version 3, btw. Also I did the Ctrl V test as you suggested, AGD2, and apparently everything is installed ok.

Must congratulate the Programers on a fabulous job with the game/s. Thank you. :)

Music only plays in certain areas/at certain times.(Monsters, Caves, inside of a house, ending, etc.)

I suspected as much. Thanks very much for responding, Jafar. Now I can play without feeling I'm missing out.
