Firstly, anyone mentions anything that happens in the 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th season of Buffy, or in Angel at all, they will die. Slowly.
I've never been a huge fan of the show (or Angel either), I watched a few episodes here and there but never like every week type thing. Then I saw in my local DVD shop the entire 7 series of Buffy for $20 a season, and I figured that it was probably going to be cheaper than hiring them all out, so I bought the first season.
13 episodes and another bus ride into the city, I bought the second, third and forth seasons. And now I am an addict.
So my questions....Is Cordelia in Angel? Cause if she is then I shall watch that too, cause she is awesome. And I didn't like the way they left her character in Buffy at the end of season 3. She was just becoming more cool, as well as being awesomly hot.
I just finished watching this episode in Season 4 where Oz has sex with this other werewolf and then he dumps Willow. This is cool. I don't have a question here, I just thought it was cool.
Oh, is that physco chick that Spike was with (Drew?), the one Angel turned weird before he vamped her, does she come back? She was awesome, and such a great accent......
So far, I am a bit disappointed in Season 4. It's good, but it's only at a 6 out of 10 compared with the first three seasons. Does it recapture that "thing" that the first three seasons had? Or does it at least get better, cause it's like it's gotten dumber. Still a good show, but dumber.
Well, if anyone is actually a fan of the show and this thread doesn't sink too far for me to be buggered looking for it, I shall post my thoughts on other events as they unfold in the series. Well, back to it. In the next episode Spike's back, so that'll be cool.

No problem there, I havnt seen much of the later series but I plan to get them on DVD too.

Yep she is in Angel, the whole series I believe. Spike also crosses over to Angel a few times to and at the end of Buffy he goes onto Angel (I think).

She was already weird before Angel turned her but you see the whole story in some flashbacks during the Angel series.

I'd say they do get better as they go on, there's some really cool story lines in both Angel and Buffy!
Long time since I watched them both but I'll definetly be getting both series on DVD at some point.

Wow you got a good deal on the DVDs. I have been buying them all too.
I do remember Season 4 becoming not as exciting for me too at some points. But trust me, it does go back to the excellence of the first 3 seasons.
I finished watching Buffy Season 7 and now I'm making my way through Angel Season 1.

Relight, wouldnt you say it was really better to watch Buffy season 4 and Angel season 1 side by side, as they were broadcast at the same time and the crossover's affect both shows so when Buffy leaves for example say in Ep2 Season 4 she appears in Angel Ep3 Season 1.
So it would make more sense to watch them that way. Its the proposed "viewing order" I guess.
Although I suppose it wouldnt really matter, just makes more sense when your watching it.

Hehe! Well...
1. Whole lot of dying and undying. Both good guys and bad guys. 2. Good guys becoming bad and bad guys becoming good.
Cordelia was in Angel most of the time... except the last series where she appeared only a few times. But you got to watch both series at the same time otherwise you'll miss a few of the nice cross-overs. Can't remember... did Angel start after the second series of Buffy?

I think (like I said above) Angel leaves at the end of Series 3 so you'd have to watch Buffy Season 4 and Angel Season 1 side by side. But I could be wrong.

Druscilla will pop up occasionally in Angel.

Yea, as does Darla and there's some great flashback episodes of Angelus (!), Dru, Darla and Spike rampaging around europe!

Yeah Angelus that's true. Oh well. Other than the cross-overs though, they are their own series, so I wanted to follow Buffy through to the end and then start fresh with Angel. I never watched either show when they aired, so watching them now on DVD, an entire season in a couple weeks, the impact of watching just one show at a time is much stronger.

Thats the same with me, thought I've been watching a season in about 3 days.

But you gotta watch it intermingled, because certain appearances will only be explained in the other series. For example (doesn't happen): Angel gets a nifty axe after a big battle and cross-over to borrow it to Buffy who cuts of the werewolf-boy's head. In buffy the ghost-boy becomes mad at her and goes cry on Angel's shoulder in the cross-over. Angel's mad at her about ghost-boy broken heart and jump over to punish Buffy.

I just watched the episode "Hush" where the whole town have their ability to speak taken away. I loved it and now I want to read the original fairy tale. Help! Anyone know what it was?
As to the other topic here, how do I know where Season 4 of Buffy and Season 1 of Angel match up? Should I watch episode one of buffy then episode one of angel and so on? Or do the series line up differently?

Argh... that is difficult. I suggest going to the first series of Angel now and THEN the 4th Buffy series. In other words... series for series.

Yea I think Ep 1 Buffy then Ep 1 Angel and so on.

Yep, it pretty much matches up episode for episode the Buffy S4/Angel S1 crossovers. Like the "telephone call" crossover in both first episodes. Plus Spike going on Angel, and Faith's arrival later on. These crossovers happen a LOT less often in later seasons(and they don't always match perfectly), but there still are some.

I've decided to watch Season 4 of Buffy then Season 1 of Angel, mostly cause I own Season 4 of Buffy and I don't own Angel yet.
Anyway, I'm about 16 episodes into Season 4 now and I will admit they have gotten better than the start of the season. Buffy knows about the government stuff now that Rieley's involved in, and Spike has moved out of Zanders into his own Crypt.

There's no original fairy tale. It was all made up by Joss Whedon.
And there's not going to be an animated Buffy show. They tried it years ago (around season 5, as I recall), but it never got off the ground.
The first three seasons of Buffy are still the best. Season 4 is pretty lame, relatively speaking. A lot of people like Season 5 a lot, but in Season 6 and 7 the quality deteriorates faster than Xander puts on weight. However, a handful of standout episodes make every season worth watching.
Angel is an odder beast. It starts off pretty bad, but picks up very quickly. It's much more inconsistent than
Buffy, and seems to reinvent itself and the characters a couple of times each season. And a lot more people die than in
Buffy.
For almost eight years they were the main reason I watched TV. Glad you enjoy them!

Wow Snarks havnt seen ya around for awhile!!
I think Season 1 of Angel was great! I loved Doyle! Cant believe he OD in real life and died R.I.P.

Nah Snarky according to various sources the Buffy animated series is definitely still in the works.
What's the deal with Doyle? I'm about 3/4 through Season 1 of Angel, and want to know why he was replaced by Wesley! Not that Wesley isn't hilarious, but I really liked the original character of Doyle and the actor.

Well Glen Quinn died awhile after he left Angel but the fact was his character Doyle was always meant to die, Joss Wheadon wrote it that way from the beginning.

Hey Ange! I'm mostly hanging out in the AGS Forums these days, though I lurk here some of the time. Let me be the far from first to offer you and Deb my congratulations on the baby.
In my opinion, Angel at first suffered from dodgy production values (the vampire makeup, for instance), and some pretty poor standalone episodes. But by the end of S1 it was a very solid show.
Unofficial word on Glen Quinn's exit at the time was that he was fired for partying too hard, and that Joss Whedon's explanation was just a cover-up. His death through overdose a few years later tends to confirm that.
(BTW, anyone seen the show Dead Like Me? The actor who plays the English guy, Mason -- one Callum Blue -- is a dead ringer for Glen Quinn. The show is kinda Buffy-esque, too.)
The animated series was definitely dead for a while. I guess after the show ended quite a few people found their careers weren't going as well as they had hoped. My impression is that Buffymania has more or less died down now, so it's not necessarily a project I would invest in.

The guy who plays Mason? Totally not like Glen Quinn!
I don't think Buffymania is dying down... tons of people (like me) are discovering the show on DVD, and Season 7 did just release in December after all. The Buffy / Angel magazines are still active and following the cast / crew of the shows. If the Buffy Animated series does manage to launch, I'm sure it would bring a new generation / age group of fans. As for the future of Buffy itself, of course there is no more future because the TV show is over. I wouldn't be surprised if Joss came up with a movie in the next few years though.

Speaking of movies, what do you guys think of the Buffy movie which came before the series? I thought it was rather funny and interesting (eg. Big hairy mole as the mark of the Slayer

) and I liked it a lot, but then again, I was pertty young when I watched it.

Heh.

That movie was destined to be a B-grade movie. I don't think anyone expected this much success afterwards.
