Re: can't record midi from game
No, Peter Rocker would have recorded the soundtrack with an exclusive sound library that is not General MIDI compatible. It would actually be more work to take his source files and dumb them down to be General MIDI compliant and rework the MIDI note data (velocities, panning, instrument patches, et...

Re: can't record midi from game
Yes. But I'm pretty sure that it has existed as standard GM or MT-32 MIDI files even though it was never released that way. If kingalexander is lucky, someone at IA may still have those files.MusicallyInspired wrote:The soundtrack to IA's KQ3 was never MIDI. It was always digital.

Re: can't record midi from game
Is there really ANY additional music in KQ1VGA compared to the SCI version? I played KQ3VGA back in 2006 and as far as I know it was digital from the start. It definitely must have been MIDI based from the beginning though. I guess if the original MIDI files still exist somewhere, your best shot is ...

Music & backgrounds in QFG4½?
Of course I recognize the obvious ones such as the cues from QFG1VGA and the backgrounds from KQ5 but I can't put my finger on the rest of them and I'd appreciate any kind of help I can get. You might as well write it all down since our personal views on what's obvious and what's not obvious might d...

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
A lot of them are in pieces due to programmability. There wasn't really much difference. About your encouragement that all start remixing.. Wouldn't it be interesting if people tried digitalizing the tracks not available on QuestStudios? There are a whole bunch of cues that aren't on the page but y...

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
Thank you very much. Is there music here not available on the KQ2+ Digital soundtrack on QuestStudios or is it just split into more parts?
I was thinking of renaming them.

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
I'm such a fool. When you said click. I actually located it in the system32 folder where I had put it before and clicked on it there. Nothing happened. Now I tried moving it to any other location and then it worked clicking on. Though first I just played up a MIDI file in Windows Media Player which ...

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
Have you tried Putzlowitsch's? It is 32-bit as well, but should show in the 32-bit Control Panel on Vista. On Win 7, the 32-bit applets appear alongside the 64-bit applets. You can also access it by just double clicking the PLWMidiMap.cpl file. There could also be UAC issues with using any of them ...

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
There's always the MIDI loopback drivers which allow you to record MIDI data in a sequencer while playing through a separate player. I'm not sure exactly how it works as I've never tried it, though. The problem is that I haven't gotten any MIDI Mapper to work. The exe-based ones simply can't find a...

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
I actually have a USB stereo cable which I use to record from my Yamaha synthesizer. It should work just as good at anything else. The output is a regular 6.3 mm stereo cable and the input is plain USB. You will need a 3.5 mm adapter for the computer's audio output though. Something tells me that yo...

Re: Help identify QFG4 track!
It sounds in the QfG4 style but I don't think I've ever heard it in the game. Where did you find it? From the game files. Of course I've digitalized it myself as I wasn't sure the site would playback MIDI. I could try to relocate and rip the original MIDI file but then you'll be have to download it...

Help identify QFG4 track!
I've played QFG4 several times in my lifetime, often as Thief or Paladin. Today I stumbled over a track I don't seem to remember as I cannot figure out where in the game this track appears. It cannot be an outtake, can it?

Re: i would like to hear the soundtrack in midi
I also think it would be inquisitively titillating with an release of both KQ2+ and KQ3+ soundtrack in MIDI files. Though if you only want to hear the soundtrack through the game, you can use the Internet Archive and download an earlier version of Romancing the Stones. Note that the game will be ins...

Re: Space Quest 1 Remake?
There will never be any better tha the AGD guys anyway True but Infamous Adventures are pretty decent in all the disparate secessions of game making compared to a lot of other teams that produces more hype and visions rather than results. God, a lot of projects with undeniably interesting concepts ...

Re: Another King's Quest 4 post.....
Your guess is as good as ours. Daniel never did write a screenplay for KQ4, to the best of my knowledge. We'd probably have done minimal additions and changes much like KQ3Redux and just kept with the original story mostly. We'd add little Father storyline elements and eggs but nothing beyond that ...

A QFG5 de-make, yes.Lady Pyro wrote:I have to agree that QFG4 is fine after a little patching, but a QFG3 or 5 re/de make would be amazing.
5 would be a ton of work though, since there wouldn't be much existing content to work from.
A QFG3 emendation, yes.

Re: This game is way too difficult
Just remember to not save after the Wizard has returned/awakened. Even when the time display shows a red color you can go down and get new porridge from three bears' house. I myself loved it and found it much more challenging than KQ2+. That's kinda ironic since KQ3 Redux follows the original game m...

Re: Future Remake: Part Deux
i actually sent the guys a AGDI an email suggesting this but they never got back to me, a remake of qfg4 would be nice, it runs buggy at best on modern systems even with dos box, so really having it retooled would help alot of fans play it. But what would be the purpose? There are a lot of patches ...

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?
I've tried several MIDI mappers for Vista that's supposed to work for Win7 but doesn't, and I'm not alone. Also I would like to add that there are some games the recording still won't work on. I.e. it worked for the CD version of Shadows of Darkness but not the floppy. I wonder why. Maybe it could c...

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?
At first DosBox wouldn't record anything it just went on saying that it waits for the MIDI data to appear but today it worked without any problems. Yesterday it just wouldn't work and I even tried assigning DosBox to a virtual MIDI port which I tried to record using other MIDI programs. Today both w...

Why isn't KQ4 listed?
Police Quest 2 would also be interesting.
And let's not forget Leisure Suit Larry 2-3.

Re: Best way to extract/record MIDI from DOS game?
I'lll try the DosBox way which I've read about once before. I guess DosBox records only the games it uses for the moment which is all I demand. DosBox does not record all MIDI sounds from the computer, right? For an example, let's say I wanted to record MIDI music from a windows game. Although the g...
