Re: A Thought on the Extra Skills in QFG
Fighters just can't climb in QfG1-3 unless you specifically give them climbing skill. Only thieves start out with that skill naturally. So the inability to climb is part of what sets those two classes apart. In QfG1-3, every puzzle the fighter encounters has a solution that doesn't involve climbing.

Re: A Thought on the Extra Skills in QFG
I've never played an Elder Scrolls game, but it's more likely that any similarities are just because the two series are both in the western RPG genre.

Re: A Thought on the Extra Skills in QFG
I don't understand your complaint. You make it sound like the game forces you to play a hybrid, when all it does is give you that option. How does that option hurt the game?

Re: A Thought on the Extra Skills in QFG
I don't think it's a bad thing that you're given the option to get the cross-class skills. I just recommend that people not exercise that option until they've played through the game as the pure classes. I suppose it's a bit like the soda fountains found in some fast food restaurants. Suppose there'...

Re: A Thought on the Extra Skills in QFG
Please use proper capitalization. That was painful to read. Some content is available to anyone with the required skills, while other content is only available to the characters with the appropriate class. This true in all QfG games, to varying extents. For example, most spells are available to anyo...

Re: An Actual Game Opening for QFG2VGA
I think QfG5's intro is a great example of what not to do. It spoils the entire plot: Minos had Bruno kill the king and is trying to destroy the dragon pillars in order to seize the throne. And yet, when you play the game, you can't actually act on this information, and the game is mainly about tryi...

Re: Just Curious about KQ1VGA
Sierra never made a KQ1VGA. The original KQ1 used the AGI engine. They then remade it using the SCI engine. This was much more sophisticated, but it was still EGA and still had a typing interface. KQ1 didn't have a version with VGA graphics and a point-and-click interface prior to AGDI's remake.

Have you talked with the Door of Destiny yet? If you've done that, the mermaid should appear on the screen west of the house.

The Behrs keep making new porridge. You can give that to the wizard.
There's no need to follow a walkthrough exactly. A lot of the game is open-ended: there are some things you have to do, but you don't have to do them in a particular order or at a particular time.

Re: Any plans for KQ4 remake?
AGDI's remake of KQ3 was already well underway by the time IA announced their remake. Starting over from scratch on a different game wasn't really an option at that point.

AGDI is a team, not just a single person. The games are made with Adventure Game Studio.

Re: Hosting on my server allowed?
No. From the FAQ:
Can I link to your game downloads from my site? Can I distribute your games from my site?
No, you cannot, due to our download tracking system and our legal agreement. Instead, please refer your visitors to our homepage, or as mentioned above, offer to donate server space to us.

Re: Hagatha's Cave problem
Can you confirm that you are successfully clicking the hotspot of the gem cursor onto the skull? If I recall correctly, it's in one of the corners, not the center. I know that a lot of issues people would have is because of that.

Re: Hagatha's Cave problem
I'm trying to think back to what other problems might be causing this.
You are trying to use the blue gem you got from Neptune, right? Are you clicking the cursor's hotspot (the little blue diamond) on the skull?

Skipping those things is fine; it won't cause any problems.
Do you have a reason to enter Hagatha's cave yet? If you haven't been to the antique shop yet, it might not let you proceed.

You need to put the character file into QfG2's install folder, which is probably going to be something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\AGD Interactive\Quest for Glory II
C:\Program Files (x86)\AGD Interactive\Quest for Glory II

Re: King's Quest II: Romancing the Stones Technical FAQ
The game has a resolution of 320x200. A screenshot will thus also be 320x200, which will only cover a tiny part of a modern screen. IrfanView gives you the option of displaying an image fullscreen (F) or resizing it (ctrl-R).

How are you trying to buy things? You need to either click your money pouch on the NPC or click the mouth icon on yourself and choose the buy option.

Your site has some great content: I do find the information about various QfG fan projects very interesting. There are some I'd never heard of, and some I could nostalgic about. However, your site is just incredibly user-unfriendly in its design. I really wish you could overhaul it to bring it up to...

I think whether you get those borders may depend on your monitor and/or graphics card. If all else fails, you can avoid them by using windowed mode.

Re: Where's the music?
Only some scenes/screens have music. So if you're not hearing any from just wandering around generic forest screens, that's to be expected. If you don't hear any music on screens that should have it (e.g. the beanstalk), that's a problem.
