Hey there!

Just wanted to know if there is still time to deliver the translations.

I was helping the Portuguese translator, Francisco, but he has stopped contacting me for about 3 or 2 months.

Is there another portuguese translator already? Or perhaps the time to work in this translation pack has ended?

Quote:
Just wanted to know if there is still time to deliver the translations.

I guess so. I believe Relight recently turned down another offer though. (a portugese one, I believe)

I'm probably the one who has the best view on the whole translation process and I must admit the whole thing tends to get to me on occasion as well. A raw estimate is that of all the people I hand out a template to, only about 5% ever shows a sign of life again. I've done a translation myself and I know that the job is massive. I'm not surprised most people simply don't finish it, but what I have problems with is that nobody (except two people at the start) ever bothered to report that they gave up on it. These days, all I can do for new volunteers is to refer them to the person on my list who's OFFICIALLY still working on it.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nasht ...

I can see how difficult it is to control all the translation process. I recently contacted Francisco, but he hasnt answered me yet. He was the one who sent me the templates to rooms 40-49 and 50-59. I already translated them, and now I was double checking everything to see if there some mistakes.

That is why I was asking if there was still time to finish the translations. I was also wondering if there was a new person responsible for the portuguese translation.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... djsouza at: 1/7/04 9:02 pm

Nope, Francisco is still officially listed as the brazilian portugese volunteer. But I haven't received an update from him in one and a half year.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashh ...

Until october, we were still talking about the translation project of KQ1.

I will try to see if he answers my e-mails in the next 2 or 3 days. Hey, there!

I was re-reading the rooms 50-59 and found this line:

"You wont be needing any leaves on your quest, Sir Graham."

I believe it is some sort of pun, a play on words, isnt it?

Are you sure? It might be one of the tree-messages. That's how I translated it.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashu ...

Okay then. Indeed, it is related to the trees.

One more thing, Francisco sent me the new templates, and as I was reading it, I noticed the following line was missing from Room 50

"There is nothing up there you'll need, besides you'll frighten the mother bird."

But I am pretty sure this line is in the game, I played it again just to see it.

During an update procedure, all lines with grammar/punctuation/spelling faults are taken out of the rooms and glued at the bottom of the document. Have you checked there?

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashn ...

Nope, right now I only have the new roons 50-59, with some lines missing. The aditional lines are not at the bottom of my document.

Perhaps I just need the whole document or something? Should I ask Francisco to send me all the rooms availabe, or perhaps you can send me the whole thing?

Anyway, my e-mail is

diego1978@terra.com.br

Erp. Sorry. I decided not to read the previous pages, so I'm not sure whether you will or won't translae Qfg2VGA in Russian, but if you need to I could help with this and/or test it if smeone else is already doing so. Not only would I be doing something constructive, but this would give me a chance to brush up on my language. Not sure if the forums or most comps read cyrillic w/o some tweaking.
"El Mariachi: You want me to shoot the cook?
Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. Russian, Dutch, German, Icelandic, Spanish, Italian and Latin. (although the Latin wasn't included with version 3.0 and I keep forgetting to ask Relight to upload it. :o )

So, except for French, all major languages (and a few minor) seem covered.

Hmmmm

#123 Post by Gronagor » Mon May 03, 2004 11:08 am

So... how many people should be talking the language to have it as a 'major' language?

I don't have any set criterium, but I would consider English, German, French, Italian and Spanish as a "major" language.
