Klytos' New Life : Day 10
I'm always full of ideas of things that I'd like to do in life. I thought seriously about teaching English overseas, earning some good money and having a great time. I thought about travelling to the UK and hanging out with some friends over there, seeing the sights, catching up with my grandparents and checking out all those lovely pommie ladies with their hot pommie accents. I've thought of starting my own business, either here and back up north where my folks live.
I've thought of becoming a Mormon (not sure why to be honest, might be the poligamy thing... :lol ) and I've thought about simply changing the branch where I work and working in something different. But they're all just ideas and I never do anything about them except talk and think about them.
That has all changed.
Last Sunday I was walking home from the city with a mate of mine and we were talking about stuff, as you do. And I said, "Josh, my life is boring. I have been paying off the same debts for three years, with absolutly nothing at all to show for it. Let's go somewhere else and do something more interesting." So we decided to go backpacking around Australia. We've got some work in country Victoria picking some fruit, earning some money, wasting some time, and generally having a blast. It is going to be so awesome.
There's so much of this country to see, and I'm going to see it. Yay for me! I've got my backpack packed, all the crap I own packed into boxes and most of my furniture sold.
I've quit my job, Josh has quit his at the Casino, we're paid for out plane tickets to Melbourne and I'm outa here!
I have five days of work left, which will suck so I'll probably stop showing up on like Tuesday or something cause they'll have paid me by then.
So that's my new life. A travelling bum.
So if anyone notices that I'm not around here for a while, thats the reason. I'm backpacking the country, (and possibly New Zealand cause I don't need a Visa to work there...), drinking a lot of beer, sleeping with dirty backpackers, talking a lot of shit, hiking along lonely dirt roads, sleeping with dirty backpackers, and generally having a great time.

It's been agreed, I'm taking over foy Klytos. Soon, I'll edge Steve and Broomie out and get Pat and Alan to pledge allegiance to the United States of Aleksandrovich, first IA, then the world...
::gets broken out of daydreams:: hmm, oh what, I'm merely the moderator for the forums and Broomies asst PR... What, you heard my plans of domination? I was just fooling.
No, seriously, IA is heartbroken over the loss of another Mills, first Dave, now Shawn, well... I can't speak for the rest of IA, but I know I am...
I'll never let go Shawn, I'l never let go.

So will you be leaving your role in IA?
No, I'm not leaving IA at all. I'm on a secondment for a couple of months. Besides, the main part of my work is done on KQ3VGA and it's mostly just animation and music still to do.

I am looking at about 3 months for starters. If we're having a great time it might be longer, if not it'll be shorter. But thats the ballpark figure I'm looking at for the moment.VampD3 wrote:So how long do you think you will be gone for?? How's your debts getting paid?
As for my debts, to give you an insight into my financial situation. I have three loans / credit card debts. I'm paying off the highest interest bearing one this Wednesday with my final pay from the bank. Then I've only got two to go, one of which is $120 a month and the other is a credit card at $25 a month. I'm just going to have to pay that with money I earn while fruit-picking or whatever. The ultimate goal is to pay a large chunk off my credit card debt with the first or second pay from fruitpicking then I'll be able to access the funds as I need them, and possibly draw on them if I need to for the other loan.
Long and convoluted, but there you go.

I am so excited! I quit work two days early, (why not I reakon!) and have been bumming around Brisbane doing heaps of cool and free stuff. Went on the tour of City Hall (went up the clock tower which was awesome fun and such a great view), went through State Parliament, went through the Botanical Gardens, and finally the police museam. All these things were free and I'd never done any of them before. Plus I had lunch at the backpackers in the city and it was only $5 for a steak and mash potato, and damn me was it a good steak? Yes Sir!
So, on another note, if anyone wants to be included on me weekly update email, just post me a PM here (or at IA) or just drop your email address here. It's probably going to have content that won't be appropriate for these forums.

I actually wouldn't recommend it, as journals can be very buggy sometimes. Especially if you accidently mark for them to only allow log in from the computer, then you'd have a problem on your hands as you wouldn't be able to log in anywhere else. I'll talk to Shawn and maybe set up a post at IA for him to update in. Then whenever Mr. Mills updates, Mr. Broom and myself could spread the word here and anywhere else agreed upon beforehand, so that people waiting for his messages can just jump straight to it. By now Klitos will have been on his way for a few hours, so I just wanna write some crap about him, as I am a writer, just something I thought might be kind of cool. Let's hope he follows my sig.
Shawn had been on the road only a few hours, before the rain had started, but he and his traveling companion didn't mind too much. This was the way man was meant to live, this was how the gods and angels intended us to go, under a blazing, dark sky, with raindrops pelting like hailstones around and on us. Besides, he and his friend had very good ponchos and the rain cooled the Australian heat off. He had parted way with his friends and family this morning, after making quick finishes to his work at Castle Infamy and handing his set of keys over to the Castle Guardian, Bromios. He had the PR Man who handled posts send farewell letters to all the castles to which he had been guest, such as The Annonymous Manor, AGS Keep, Anubis's Eternal Palace, and all others. The Infamous Adventures, new and old, had come to Castle Infamy to wish him well. Even the reclusive Jwar and SoupAngel had turned out, as the bond of friendship had grown well among the group and the work they put in together was making a great product. A product he probably wouldn't be there to see released. After having a last ale with his compatriots, Shawn set off down his long, winding road to self-recognition. Who knew when he would stumble upon Castle Infamy again in his travels, he sure didn't. The real world was much similar as Shawn found himself and his companion having a final round of beers with their friends and family. He had spent the morning repacking his luggage after realizing a few things wouldn't fit. He hefted the pack up on his shoulders, and thought it was slightly heavy, as he had laden it with a few changes of clothes, some personal effects, a toothbrush and various other sundries, a bit of food, some money, a flashlight with extra batteries, his personal iPod, a rain poncho, swiss army knife, two canteens of water, and a camera with plenty of film. It would get light enough shortly as he would become much stronger in the near-future. He finalized arrangments with his brother to deliver his sold-off furniture and spent twenty minutes on the phone with his former manager of the bank pleading with him to return, promising promotions and raises, all which unswayed the "Man with the body of a Greek God". Shawn Mills and his traveling companion hit the road Monday, Feburary 7th 2005, bravely going into their own new world of walking, sightseeing, hard work, and self-recognition. Even all the nay-sayers who called him foolish were envious in their hearts as they watched him throw caution and logic into the wind and stride fearlessly off to wrestle the future and change it into something better for himself and his loved ones.
