At first I also thought the grandmothers accent was kinda weird, since her grandaughter had none, nor did anyone else in the area. But when I realized she was the counts wife, it fit perfectly to me
And I just *loved* the count character, voice, personality, picture and all! The whole vampire castle was my favorite part of the game, it reminded me of what I loved about QFG4.
To be honest, I liked the place and characters so much I was sorry to move on :P
I also thought that Grahm (sorry, doh can't spell) should have married possom instead. I know my guy was totally crushing on her
Actually, the only part of the game I didn't like was when he went and married Valorie... it just seemed weird to me, I didn't really like her or feel like I knew her (although she was cool in KQ7, just had to keep reminding myself it was the same person.) I kept wondering, why is Grahram doing all this for someone he doesn't even know? But of course that wasn't something AGD could have exactly taken out :P

Funny, most people I know who've played both games think the other way around; that she was incredibly annoying in KQ7 and much more likable in KQ2+.Actually, the only part of the game I didn't like was when he went and married Valorie... it just seemed weird to me, I didn't really like her or feel like I knew her (although she was cool in KQ7, just had to keep reminding myself it was the same person.) Yeah, I got the feeling you guys really tried to flesh her out, which I appreciated
I also liked that she'd been watching Gramam from affar, so she at least knew him a bit before marriage.
Musically inspired, it was probably because I was around 8 or 9 when I played the 7th game
IMO that's really the age to play it, it's definatly less of an adult game than say, KQ6. I do remember her whining and crying a lot, though. I guess she just wasn't the adventuring type!
I've tried to play it again but it keeps having errors on my newer computers.

Wrong. It has both Windows and DOS versions. DOS being the version it was MEANT for. All Sierra adventures were made in DOS and ported to Windows. All of them. The only KQ that's not DOS is MOE.DOSBox won't do for KQ7 as it's Windows-based, I believe.
And I liked the voicepack, I was just expecting something completely different for the ferryman. But it's all good

Really? I could've sworn it was Windows-based. I mean, it was out by the time Windows 95 was out, wasn't it? At the very least, it was around during 3.1. *shrug* Whatever, it matters not to me as I've never had problems with it.
The ferryman creeped the @#$% out of me. I loved that one. AGD2 knocked it out of the park on that voice.

Yeah, but the same applies to Larry 7, and that one had 3 versions - DOS, Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.
Coincidentally, that game also forced me to replace a 4MB RAM module with a 16MB one in my old 486, since the DOS version kept crashing, and I didn't have the 12MB RAM the Windows version required (the DOS version only needed 8MB).

There has to be DOS versions because that's the only way you can play the games with an MT-32. Not all games were meant specifically for the MT-32 but all of them support it at the very least. I know because I play all the games in DOS mode including KQ7 because I hate the Windows versions so much. lol
Yup, mine runs on windows, it just keeps getting all these errors when run on XP that never used to happen. I could probably find patches somewhere, but lately I've been happily busy playing these remade games
The boatman scared me too! I didn't want to hop in that boat. Several things about the game made me jumpy, particularly in that area. (not that I was peeing my pants or anything, but... :P) I made sure I always played it during the 12-2 am hours

To set the record straight on KQ7; it was released first for Windows 3.1 ONLY. Then when Win 95 came out, Sierra released a version for Win 95 ONLY. There was a DOS version, too, and if memory serves, it came out around the same time as the Win 95 version, also released separately. A pretty crummy way to do things if you ask me, but then Sierra wasn't always known for its brilliant business decisions.

A Win95 version? I find that unlikely. But if it's true, where's your source on this?Lambonius wrote:To set the record straight on KQ7; it was released first for Windows 3.1 ONLY. My version of KQ7 is on the latest KQ collection (before the most recent one) and it has both the Windows (as in Windows 3.1) version and the DOS version on it just like SQ6 on my SQ collection, and PQ4 on my PQ collection. No Win95 version. And aren't these collections supposed to have the latest versions of all the games?
I kind of thought so too. If you look at the big picture, what Graham did was incredibly foolish. He could have married just about any young lady that he wanted. There is more than one fish in the sea, if you get my drift.Noober! wrote: Actually, the only part of the game I didn't like was when he went and married Valorie... it just seemed weird to me, I didn't really like her or feel like I knew her (although she was cool in KQ7, just had to keep reminding myself it was the same person.) But instead, he goes to some dangerous foreign place, without any escort or guards of any sort, to rescue and marry some woman he doesn't even know.
I mean if he is killed, Daventry is screwed and they are left without a king. Also, what if he had found her and she said, "I don't want to marry you. Get lost, creep." The whole thing seems a little dodgy.
The last thing you want to do when dealing with fairy tales is rationalising them. Marriage in fairy tales has always been a tad dodgy. Some examples:
1) A prince risks his life cutting through a magical forest of thorns so he can marry a girl he's never spoken to after awakening her with a kiss.
2) A prince sees a woman lying in a class coffin surrounded by 7 weeping dwarves, kisses her and decides to marry her.
3) A prince engages in a dance with an unknown woman, hardly shares a word with her and the next day, decides he'll marry whatever woman can fit her foot into the glass shoe said mystery woman left behind.
4) A king tells a peasant's daughter to spin gold out of straw and tells her she'll be punished if she won't succeed. After the peasant's daughter succeeds in this chore three times, (with the help of a mysterious little gnome) he decides to marry her instead of killing her. She accepts and even have a kid out of their supposedly happy wedding.
Seriously, the moment you start rationalising fairy tales is the moment they lose their magic.

Oops. Sorry; I had my facts a little off (but not much.) It WAS released for 3.1 only when it first came out. Then Win 95 came out and Sierra released version 2.0 of the game, which had been patched and upgraded to run in Win 95 (but was not exclusive to 95, i.e. it could still run in 3.1.) The DOS version was released separately though, just for DOS, and I believe was the updated version 2.0. Those are probably the versions on the compilation. Here's one website I found that backs up my claim, but I have seen this info elsewhere too (and I remember the different box art between the two versions as well from back when they were released.)MusicallyInspired wrote:A Win95 version?
