Any chance for a Linux port?

#1 Post by Linux » Tue Feb 12, 2002 5:04 am

Hi,
just found this project, and I think it's great - KQ1VGA sure looks like a remake from its original makers would look.

Unfortunately I can't get it to run on Linux - any chance for a port? Just think of the possibilities of KQ1VGA coming with the OS. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Have you tried it with wine?

Does it work at all with wine? I know KQVGA wasn't programmed from scratch - it uses some sort of adventure game building engine. If the engine was ported to Linux then all games made with the engine would work as well, would they not?

Yep, we made the game with AGS (Adventure game studio). So I'm not sure if the games are portable to other Operating systems. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask at the AGS forums though:

<a href="http://pub6.ezboard.com/fdosuserforumsa ...

No Ags only works in windows and dos. You could probably find a dos emu to run the dos ver.
The Quest for my Raincoat Starring DickBoy available now!!!http://www.tbns.net/Layabout/raincoat.zip/I think Chris Jones should be proud of how we put his laboriously conceived engine to good use. -- goldmund about "the quest for my Raincoat"

Mac Port

#5 Post by frawgz » Tue Mar 26, 2002 3:17 pm

I'd like to see a port to the Mac. Would you guys consider using the Coldstone Game Engine for future games? It opens the door for both Mac and Windows games..

<a href="http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/coldsto ...

I wouldn't count on them using the Coldstone engine, they seem to like AGS a lot. And $50 is a lot to pay for a game engine... sort of, whereas AGS is free. Coldstone does look pretty cool, though.
