The witch from KQ1 isn't relaited to Hagatha. Hagatha's BROTHER is Manaan (I don't know his spelling very wel), the wizard from KQ3. I don't really understand the relation to The Father.

Manannan. From KQ3.

The witch from KQ1 wasnt first thought of in Sierra's studios <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> . She, like many other characters from KQ1 and two, is taken from a fairy tale. That witch is from (sp!) Hancel and Gratel (sp!).

Yes, I know. In Denmark, they are known as "Hans og Grete"...

The KQ1 witch could have been related to Hagatha... U know, Little Red Riding Hood is related to the vampire, and Rumplestlitskin is related to the bridge troll...

Does Hagatha and Manannan have other relatives... it is a bit interesting...

Hans og Grete you say? Well that sounds like in the original, but in hebrew the names are totaly different: Ami VeTami <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Maybe it does. Well, Hebrew is the language of magic <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> For example: Did you know that in ancient Hebrew The spell from Disney: 'Abra Kadabra' means in old-old Hebrew : 'Create a thing' (in translation), in modern Hebrew its abit-bit different, like: 'Bra Davar', instead of 'Abra Kadabra'.

The Danish words for "create a thing" is "lav en ting"...
That's not very magic, as it also means that you have to poo! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":o">

Now I remember! Dahlia! King Edward saved her, and then married. But on next day Dahlia robbed the castle (took the magic chest) and then transformed into witch.
And what is witch's name in KQ5?

The story of Dahlia and Edward can be read in the HTML manual that comes with KQ1VGA. It's copied word for word from the original KQ1 manual.

The witch Dahlia in KQ1 suffers from lack of motivation - did she steal the chest to give it to the giant? is she just the witch from Hansel & Gretel, looking for a snack?
Also the witch in KQ5 - every kq has a witch... (well, every kq with Graham in it) <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

Hammm...KQ7 and KQVIII (swamp region) both contain a witch also, and KQ4 (3 witches inside that cave).

Better said: Every king's quest, without Alex. playing in it, has a witch.
I mean all KQs have a witch, apart from KQ3 and KQ6 <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
If I'm not mistaken...

Kq7 & kq4 had a witch? Malicia & Lolote are evil fairies, not witches. As for the 3 hags in the KQ4 - they're gorgons, aren't they? you know, Medusa's sisters from the greek mythology, who shared one eye and one tooth <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

No, gorgons were creatures like Medusa with snakey hair and a petrifying gaze. I don't remember the actual name right now, but the three sisters with one eye only pointed the location of the gorgons to Perseus. (after he stole their eye to make them cooperate)

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nasht ...

I typed Graeae at first and then thought no, isn't that just the Roman/Latin name for them? Guess I misremembered... (I knew it wasn't Erinyes, that's the Furies.)

Minitour!

#23 Post by charchar » Sat Jun 14, 2003 4:00 am

but whats more populare, intreting, mysterous, and cool is the in Minitour,

MINOTAUR - An evil monster, half-bull, half-man. Minos, king of Crete, held the minotaur in a great labyrinth where he would throw in Athenian prisoners to feed the beast. Theseus, the famous hero, managed to find his way in the labyrinth and killed the minotaur with the help of princess Ariadne, who gave him a ball of thread to find his way in and out of the labyrinth.

but the first part of his name, makes him sound little, why don't they call him the Bigutour? they say he's a giant!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":o">

I believe that he's called the Minotaur because Theseus was taken to that island my Minos. Taur is of latin origin meaning "bull" (taureau is French for "bull", toro is Spanish) and I believe that taurus is Greek...feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, anyone! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"> Thus the Minotaur is the bull from Minos. Then again, I may be way off base and Minotaur means something else in Greek, so again feel free to correct me here, guys!

~Wolfgang

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... s>Wolfgang Abenteuer at: 6/14/03 12:10 am

No, the actual reason he's called the minotaur is something else, which may be a tad disturbing. (but also an example of why Greek mythology is so darn fun to read)

As you may know, Minos was the king of Crete. At one time, he asked the gods to allow him to show them his devotion. He asked for a bull which he would, in turn, sacrifice to them again. (pretty weird, but appearantly the gods didn't think so) Anyway, that came to pass and a magnificent bull came out of the sea for Minos to conduct the sacrificial ceremony on. He was, however, too much in awe for the beautiful animal to let it go like that and decided to sacrifice an ordinary bull while keeping the special one for himself. The gods were a tad angry at that act and punished him in a rather creative way. They made Minos' wife fall in love with the bull. The Minotaur (tauros of Minos = bull of Minos) was the child of Minos' wife and the sacred bull. Since the Minotaur was a man-eating monster, Minos had a labyrinth built for it.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashh ...
